Sunray Probe 4 Ace250

Has anyone tried the new Sunray probe for the Ace 250? Looks really well built and seems handy right there on your detector. I wonder about Battery life since it runs off of your MD power. Is it Parasitic? haha

I haven't tried the one for the ACE 250, but I have one on my GTI 2500. It doesn't cause any more battery drain at all since it is actually a coil and when it is turned on, your main coil is turned off. You are just switching from one coil to another. Monty

It works pretty well on my 2500, but that doesn't mean it will be just as good on the ACE but I would expect it to perform OK. The beam or search width is about as wide as your thumbnail and I would expect it works like most coils and gets narrower as it goes deeper. The deepest target I have ever picked up was 7", but I don't think that is typical as it was a very large target. Most likely it would reach about 3 to 4" in the all metal mode. In the descriminate mode, it will only reach about a couple of inches under ideal conditions. It was designed to be used in the pinpoint mode that is actually an all metal mode. It is a bit pricey, but if you are one who does not pinpoint well, it may be worth it. I believe "Uncle Willy" has been testing one and you might want to PM him and see what he has to say. Monty

Thanks Man, Somedays I pinpoint real well . Other days I don't. I think it depends on how big of a hurry I am in. I think this would help me not have to dig so much in the hard packed ground around here. Maybe not though. Either way thanks for the info. Matt
