Aw geez those are erotic..

I live alone in a desert ghost town so I get-erotic when a light wind blows. But those marbles are hotsy totsy for sure.

thanks plehbah....its a fine hobby and can be all consuming...on my last move 6 years ago i filled a 24 ft rental truck with the contents of my marble room...i estimated i had 500,000 marbles...now im probabably down to half that....

Duffy, what did you do with the other 1/4 million marbles? :icon_scratch: I found one while bottle digging yesterday. It was pretty and I put it with the other 5 or 6 I've found (incl. 3 clay), I can't wait to find another 499,994. ;D

lolol i sold some at auction & bought my wife a new car.....she likes marbles now...i buy and sell all the time..i used to dig at old factory sites until the cops got my information and said dont come back...arrrgh...

most factories made a million marbles a day...the furnances could never be shut down except for maintenance and repairs...the companies simply couldnt store the marbles and they would discard them .....a million 25 lb cased marbles fills a semi trailer...many times there were errors and cross=over runs or experimentals....the many glass factories had the same problem...they had tons of glass that never made the grade so marbles were a recycled product......some companies had a strict quality control and oversize and undersize marbles were dumped.....its not all glory to dig a marble dump...lotsa junk glass and you may dig for hours to find something worth keeping...then again you could find a honey hole filled with desireable marbles...alas the epa has gotten involved and put many dumpsites off limits because of the chemical used like arsnic and mercury.....plus many are on private property and you need permission from the land owner....its gettin harder and harder to find a good spot to dig...

500,000 :o

So when finding marbles at old factories take it you're still looking for good quality marbles. Do the error marbles still have a collector value?

Wow !! those are some nice marbles :icon_thumleft: reminds me when i was a kid i had hundreds but lost them all in a marble game including my BIG ! cats eye marble :'( Good finds  Dd60

yes many collectors like the double ingots and errors where like the ribbon runs out short or in cateyes colors in the vanes blend and bleed...some of the blended opaque marbles are very desireable...dug marbles are not considered mint because of beign in the ground the get mineral stains and damages by pitting or rubbing together...some are quite collectible --some are junk...
