Stirrup from a lost town

I posted this and some how did it in the what's its forum sorry I'm not trying to repeat myself.

Went to check out a new spot today I only had a few min. I poked around and out of the cold damp soil came this stirrup made of brass. The site I was at was a town that was settled in the 1790"s and was all but gone by 1870. There were 4 brother from the town that were all killed during the civil war. And I have permission to do just about the whole area the town stood its now all fields. I can't wait to go back when I have a few hours.

good find and I see LOTS more goodies on the table!!
 

Looks like an english riding stirrup but could very well be calvary. I don't think it is a working saddle (western) stirrup. Check Wikipedia/ stirrup/English.

That's my case I don't put it all in there because it wouldn't fit so I have about 9-10 shoe boxes full and a couple buckets for lead and copper and brass and a safe for the silver and gold. The stuff I put in there I tend to change out every so often.

now thats impressive, im working on a much smaller collection but ill get there lol
 

Well I have been at it for a long time and it never gets old. I still get pumped when a flat button or large cent pop out
