I've been trying to contact Owl Engineering Inc. This is the company that makes and sells Stealth sand scoops. I've tried texting, E-mailing and calling their phone. The number is 586-755-5821 and all I get is a response saying that this is a invalid number. anyone else had this problem. I'm calling because my 920i sand scoop has broken welds and I want to have it repaired or replaced. Thanks. Ed

NO Sunspot sold to the company in CA. Owl Engineering , nothing to do with scoops , when he sold the company Owl engineering was a name the original owner came up with to make detector parts , that failed , he got out , Chuck is going to make scoops again , a few months out , new design , as far as your older scoops with weld issues , find a local weld shop to fix it , if you need a scoop now , Xtreme Scoops which also has handles that fit both T-Rex & the Sunspots , including his line , his scoops are made out of 316SS & if you want pricy Platinum , he makes them to , happy hunting !
That’s awesome that Chuck is getting back in the game! Would you know how to pass a message to him? I have a question about how to assemble a travel shaft I bought from him (described in my message down thread). I’m be so grateful if you know how to contact him (or could do so on my behalf)! Thanks!

Wondering if anyone here can help. I have one of Chuck's OG scoops (Stealth X-Treme), which I have loved for years. When I bought it I also bought a 2-part travel shaft (carbon fiber) which I have never used. I'd like to start, but now the Sunspot is no more, I'm hoping someone can help me determine how to assemble the travel shaft (silly question, I know). Do you have to add hardware where the shaft pieces join, or is it what it looks like (an allen bolt that when loosened, expands the inner shaft to tighten into the outer)? if so, can this possibly stay tight through a day's lifting of heavy sand? thanks in advance
I have one of Steve G's travel shafts for my Stealth 920ix scoop, so, it may not be exactly the same as yours, but, here goes. I assume your travel shaft halves thread together? The lower section on mine just slides tightly into the scoop socket. I bottom it out and thread the Allen bolt with washer into it and tighten. I then tighten the clamp on the scoop socket. I then coat the threads on the shaft with NevrSieze to prevent corrosion from locking the two section from coming apart. I then tighten them together real tight. Then I wrap electrical tape over that joint and 2-3 inches either way to form a pad for my lift handle and add some extra seal for the threads. Install the lift handle and done. The lift handle I have also helps reinforce the strength of the joint too.
