Re: state parks-UPDATE 5 may

ok i went to fall creek falls last wednesday, told no detectors, was given an e-mail address of someone else, gov. e-mail addy, so i think he has a say in the state parks, got my reply today.
he just said no detecting in state parks unless looking for personal lost item and a ranger has to go with you, other exception scientific work.
this info will be passed to my state rep on friday.
i have the rule # also, i could read it so that i could use my detector to search for coins, but i am sure they would not see it the same way. rule #0400-2-2-26
i will not post here again untill i have some more info to pass along.
thanks for the help......

Re: state parks-UPDATE 5 may

I live right on the edge of Catoosa Wildlife Management Area. I asked a TWRA officer if I could hunt with my metal detector around the old building here in town where they keep equipment and was told in quite a rude manner that it was TWRA property and I could not do that on TWRA property. I found out later that TWRA was renting that building and had no authority to grant or refuse me from hunting on the property.

Re: state parks-UPDATE 5 may

Hmm, If I am a resident of a State, and I pay Taxes to that state - either income or sales or property or all three, Would I not be correct in saying that all property owned by said state is in part mine?? As a resident of said state, I am a part of the Government, my voice is heard through my vote of elected Reps. Do what you must to put a Bill to a vote of elected reps. But please, do not be content with tacking on another Fee or Permit Charge or in other words another TAX just for the sole group of individuals wishing to pursue this particular hobby. I undersand the concept of Population Management for wildlife and the percieved need for a liscense or permit or TAX to fund that program, but how can anyone here justify a permit charge or TAX so that I can 'Legally' pull little pieces of metal out of the ground that I actually as a resident OWN???!

Re: state parks-UPDATE 5 may

Yeah thats TWRA for ya. They are about as useless as ______ on a boar hog. To bad people do not realise it is our land and not the Governments. grrrrrr not the place for this discussion.

Re: state parks-UPDATE 5 may

just my 3 or 4 cents worth. used to be 2 cents but the government is currently printing more money than can be funded.

Happy hunting

bump--get back to the top., i need everyone that lives in tn. to see this

Re: state parks-can we get the law changed

the way things are, if you do get caught, you get a ticket. most people will pay the ticket rather than fight it.
the people in charge know that'll you'll pay the ticket rather than fight it, so they use scare tactics to get you to leave. I detect in a state park here in Ks. the park ranger just tells me not to leave any holes, if somebody has a problem with what I'm doing, either go to another place in the park or go home.
what it comes down to is out of sight, out of mind.

Be careful with that approach. In many parts of Texas where there are antiquity laws that include metal detecting, they will not only write you a ticket, they will take all your equipment away and not return it to you. It seems more and more public areas are being added to the list where metal detecting is prohibited.

I know here in Ohio we are can detect State Parks. You have to check in at the office and they will tell you where you can detect at. It is mainly at the beach area where you can detect at. Plus in Indiana I have detected State Parks there. You also have to check in and get written permission slip to carry on you while you detect. It is the beach area there also. So it is not like yo are digging a hole somewhere as you are in the water and sand area. Even if you can just get the permission for the beach and water at least you made some headway....Matt
