Just the one detecting day this weekend, but it was gorgeous and sunny, even took a layer of clothing off in the afternoon 😎 xx

So nice to be detecting on grass again after the stubble of recent weeks! A strange little disk … we don’t think it’s a coin as the reverse is completely blank and quite thick for a coin… but we have been wrong before 😆 musket balls, buttons, corset fastening loops, tiny flowered shaped pin, and other bits of which I have yet to be identified! Xx

I'm still intrigued by the dumbell-shaped lead objects that you find so commonly. I have not seen them on our side of the Atlantic. Strange that the purpose so common an object could be lost to history.
The one in the picture above is a bit smaller in diameter than the lead balls pictured with it. If those balls are for guns, the dumbell is not too large for guns. It would be fired with the round parts, front and back, filling the bore wth its length along the bore. The round parts are where the possible rifling marks are visible on the one in the picture.
Gun balls are found in a variety of sizes, so that does not necessarily exclude the dumbells. But if they are just a mixture of sizes, not in size classes, it does argue against being a gun projectile. Gun balls tend to be in size classes, some around .69" for muskets, some around .50" for muzzleloading pistols and rifles, some around .45 for pistols, for examples.
If thay are gun projectiles, I expect that there would be descriptions of them or the guns which used them somewhere in the literature. Something that would be interesting to look for.

Of course u can…
the 2 at the bottom are buttons… (i think they are refered to as nipple buttons)
the one above right is a pewter button (i think)
top left… dont know!!! xx
Can you actually say that on here.😄
Well done on your hunt.

Hi Blossom, where are the flower photos from?
I am in North Eastern Pennsylvania and my tulips broke ground on Febreuary 2, a week earlier than last year.
Best wishes.....Joe McDonough

They are Snowdrops in my garden in England 😀

I think I have confirmed the ID for the waisted, round, lead pieces as being projectiles. Haven't found what they were shot from. See below.

Have had the calipers out and the scales… we have only measured the ones that arnt damaged (31) average diameter is 14.24 and average weight is 25.19 grams . Below are the stats xx

Solved, as per the link, they are projectiles. I think its your macro pictures that made them look much bigger than 20mm that confused me.
Now what is kind of interesting is that I have never had any, but have thousands of musket balls of all sizes & some bar shot etc...

Looks like a beautiful day out to be out and about!! Really interesting if that is St George, interesting!! Thanks for sharing
