I'm interested to see some spoke shave like tools. If you have any that are crude or made from flakes or small worked pieces of flint I'd be really interested in seeing them as well.

Have you ever seen a modern knife with a "gut hook" built into the tip? I wonder were there stone tools made for this purpose...ripping or tearing hide? If so I would imagine it to look like a spoke shave with the cutting edge close to the end of the tool rather than the middle??

Here's one of my favorites, a personal find from WV. It resembles and may be typed as an edgefield scraper, a hafted point with one side of the face steeply beveled. These are old, 10,000 B.P., which imo could explain the fluted base. I could see a piece like this being used as a gut hook but also an arrowshaft scraping tool like spokeshaves are thought to be.

The rest are just some different varieties of spokeshaves from various areas, personal finds and aquired pieces.

I have found quite a few of them that were made on flakes and were handheld. I have yet to find one that's bifacial or made from an exhausted point. Here's an example of a unifaced one that was hafted, made from KRF (patinated).

Here's one my wife found in 06 that is 2 1/2 inches long and made out of Flattop C. It is heavily abraided on distal end as I have tried to show with color line.. I've always felt that there was something special about this one.
