I have a bit of a dilemma... I have a large rectangular vase (think dozen roses sent by a florist type). foll of coins, quarters, pennies, everything... lots of Eisenhowers, Susan Bs,... just spare change of no more than face value.... So what it the best way to get rid of it? Coinstar? ...any creative ideas, I don't really want to spend it over time, I want it gone!

Sell it as an “unsearched coin hoard” on EBay. 8-)

I would just roll them up and take them to the bank, but that’s just me.

Coinstar works, just watch for fellow Treasurenet members hanging around near the reject tray. :laughing7:

Suggestion: Take a cereal bowl full (put in plastic clear bag) to your bank and see if they will take it. If 'yes', then tell them you have 'X' amount more and ask if they will take them all on your next trip.
Like 'dust'; don't collect change until it becomes a problem.
Don in SoCal

Take it to a grocery store that has a coin star machine. Deposit the coins in and get a gift card they usually don’t cost anything if you spend it in that store. If you get cash there will be a fee.

My personal bank will allow me to bring in ANY coins I have and they'll deposit into my account. No charge for the service and no problems.
Roll them, bring them in and use their counter, give the teller the larger coins to add to the total, whatever.
Don't forget to check the reject slot if you use the counter.
Don't forget to make sure any Ike dollars are not 40% silver, just like 65 through 70 halves. They'll take them still if you just want it all gone, but I'd get rid of any silver elsewhere.

take to the bank if your bank has a coin machine. Coin Star charges a percentage as a fee I believe, so that would not be my choice

Cash them in and use the proceeds to do some coin roll hunting.....you may get some silver, and if not that use the money to buy that one coin that your collection is missing....if in fact there is one.. lol

Not sure if you have young kids in your life, but I use it as an opportunity for them to “make some money” by rolling the coins. They get to practice counting by 1s, 5s, 10s, etc…. and it’s a great opportunity to share interesting coin facts/history. Never know you may even create a future numismatist

I'll give you my address if you just want to get rid of it.... 🤣

Just so you know, AND this ONLY APPLIES to people living where these are, QT - QUICK TRIP gas stations will take your rolled coins, for exchange for cash or purchase, no questions asked...
And yes I did this here in Charlotte, NC I have a bag full of rolled dirty money and I just took $50 worth in and they said "do you want cash or to purchase something?" and I said CASH and she opened the register and gave me cash... did not open the rolls did not weigh them, did not do anything but paid me cash...
So that might help some people who have QUICK TRIPS QT gas stations nearby.. All of them do this I think..

I like that idea, have the grand kids do the work!

I can see how it saves a trip to the bank for change for a cash business.

A bank we use has a coin counting machine. You have to have an account to use it, and they don't charge you if you have that account.
I don't think I have ever seen such a bank!

I'm not sure they will like what they find in my rolls, all mine are very dirty and I have never been able to figure out how to return clad coins to original colors... (Yes I clean the dirt off) Soo I just roll them and occasionally give them to pay for stuff. then run really fast before they open them and ask what I gave them...

My credit union has a coin machine. If you have an account with them, you can deposit it directly in your account. If not, the machine will take your coins, print out a receipt and you take that up to the cashier. I think if you are a non-member they charge a small fee. But nothing like the 11% that CoinStar charges.
