Spanish Trail Sign.

Trail, I have two holes with large snake head boulders at the entrance. I always wondered what would be inside. You say I can just push them back into the mine then in a side wall trap? I was supposed to go out today but got distracted. I have had ledges fall out beneath me, I have found evidence of poison in the dirt at the entrance, I have seen the large rocks balanced on a pebble that is aimed at the hole. I have been swarmed by bees, and had snakes in a hole I was about to enter. I have seen boulders full of quarter sized rock chips most likely to smother you should you trip that trap. Yes I believe there is DT's.

I wanted to ad, I was in a crevice and had a large boulder almost squash me. It appeared back filled below the boulder, I did not explore further, I was on a mission.
Hi Casca, talking about the side-wall trap. The side-wall trap is just one of the different traps you can encounter. There are many different traps. Any where, where boulders can fall on someone, from above, from the side, from on a hill slope, etc. These trap boulders are balanced and fitted together in such a way and resting on a 'trip-stone'. And if the 'trip-stone' is released, the boulders follow, pushed by gravity. When you were talking about the large rocks balanced on a pebble, {the pebble is the 'trip-stone'} In this case if the large rocks were disturbed by accidentally knocking into them or someone tried digging around them, etc. The pebble would act as a ball bearing and roll aside causing the large rocks to tumble down on the unsuspecting victim. ----------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- ---------------------- ----------------------------------------- ---------------------- --------------------------------------------------- These death trap entrances were set up to lure intruders of their mines to enter and not used by the Spaniards. The Spaniards entered different hidden entrances.

I have a spot with boulders used as a ceiling, they made a arch. Looks like the whole mountain could come down on you. I have large gashes where they used some sort of poles to position the cap stone. Very scary place and I can wait no longer. Im not sure if I have two different holes or just a real entrance up top.

Good morning Casca. The information that I gave you about your site. The area of volcanic activity. After that you posted and talked about it, so I know you read it. I am going to erase those 2-posts, so you will have no 'claim-jumpers {uninvited guests}. They may recognize the area by your pictures. You may want to delete those photos. The areas that you don't want any uninvited guests, don't take any distance shots that show the whole terrain that can be recognized. Just take close-ups of those certain areas for viewers if you wish to post them, because the chances of someone finding the areas without the background terrain to guide them would be slim to none. Example: the picture of the fissure-opening with the owl. Post a close-up picture of the fissure-opening only with maybe a little terrain around it, same thing with the owl. Not showing the whole recognizable terrain around. After all your the one who spent countless hours in the hot sun searching, faced all the dangers, and made the discoveries. ----------One other thing that I would like to suggest, is maybe getting yourself a partner. It's {got to be someone you can trust with your life}. Family would be the best. I don't think you would have any problems finding one with your fantastic discoveries. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also get a couple long steel lever bars. With the right lever bar you can move a boulder that weighs a ton or more. This is where the partner could come, by having him move those huge-boulders out of harms way.
Very good info indeed. I posted the whole area so folks could see all the sign. But could stand most hunters in front of my finds and they would just see rocks. But may go ahead and delete a few post as you are correct about how it was formed. I have had folks come behind me before and yes it is frustrating to have someone turn over boulders, destroy sign, and set up false signs. I do carry a walking stick, not sure if I have the energy to carry a steel bar around, but have considered moving tools up and make a camp first before exploring in depth. Thanks.

I have severe reactions to bee stings, I carry benedryl. May try the kit, as I have room in my bag. I have tools in my bag, but nothing for extended or heavy work. Small pick, fold up shovel....ect. The ceiling trap may have already been breached as I can see the hole above the entrance. inside.webp The floor is covered with small sharp stones and very dusty. There is what appears urns around the corner which you cant see in the picture. There is some other stuff going on inside and outside. But its a cool place. We have positive air flow, and the rock is worked. The s on the statue has friends up top outside the hole. This is a covered and hidden inverted V shaped cave or hole.

casa have you ever given any thought to using rock climbing gear to move the boulders/rocks
i dont rock climb, have watched ,not sure but it seems that maybe some of the gear could be used
adapted to move the rocks too, just thinking how to be safer at moving the rocks, well take a look
and see if the rock gear could be useful
some vids on how to use gear

Had a accident one day using a rope on a climb, never used them again. Very good info cw, I don't try to move rocks or destroy the monuments. I know they used other ways to get in and out. I have a fear of smothering in a cave so I don't know if I ever will get the 60' feet inside to ever see a treasure room. I do carry rope, a small piece. I have found uses for everything in my pack that I would not call normal. Some of the holes do require a rope and I will have to do it again someday. But for now I will just play lizard and get to em the harder way lol. These holes were not made easy, nor were we ever intended to be in them. If you did breach one, you then have other task to complete. I can not go anywhere where people are anymore, so if you open it up, you will find graphitti and trash when you return. But yes ropes have been used and can be used. Im sure I can recreate a lot of what they done. The man power needed to clean out a covered hole is beyond a single persons ability. I do have a few friends who I can trust, it just seems to be a timing thing.

casa maybe this will work
these are cheap hook up to your ipad or camera via usb port,if not long enough
i think there are some that are small enough to carry in pack, that are longer cable
and you can rent
just trying to find a way for you to see into the Troom,if you ever get to see inside
its prob an awesome sight, good luck

Casca:
Couldn't help but adjust the lighting in that last photo. Just had to see
what's in the back of the tunnel. There sure looks like a lot of quartz in that big rock
in the middle of the tunnel floor and is that red stuff native copper or some
wood burls??

Hi SS, the back shaft has been filled, not sure why. The cactus bottom makes a good bowl, probably for poison. The rock I am seeing is a very dense and hard green granite, but some rose quartz is around also. Its just covered with dust in the, I was not able to get past the cap stone. Just dug a hole under it to see inside.

Hi H-2, this was a rough climb, I didn't know what I had. The whole mountain looked like it could come down on you at any moment. I can tell you I have come a long way. I have not been back to this spot in years. So maybe someone else has found it too, and took my prize. Detector is worthless up there, just added weight.

Oh, I guess i over reacted. Sorry usernotfound. I took your CAPS on the word GUESSING as a comment along the lines of a WAG. Again apologies.
Thanks for the pic. I have seen similar.

Casca, it may not have been what you think on the baby blanket. I found a dead chicken nicely wrapped in a feed bag BUT over that, a nice clean silky cloth, carefully tied. Well I did not find it, but another hiker wanted me to look at it. We were both cringing inside..big time. And were so relieved when we worked up courage to open it a little to find a rather fresh white chicken with feathers and all, cause it was the right size and weight for something else.
She found it stuffed in a shallow crevice under an over hang. I don't have a clue who or why. Does not sound like any offering I have heard of..except perhaps voodoo.

The area was remote, and too far from town to be a accident. Im glad there was nothing in it. No tracks around it, but the wind blows hard enough to blow that blanket around. I have a copper based ore that runs a good mile in this area. Its suspended in clay, and recovery of gold is very difficult. Anyone know how to float copper and lead out of a ore sample?

Take a representative sample to an assayer to find out exactly what metals, if any, are in it.

Casca, Take a pan size sample. Crush and screen it. I use a crowbar and inverted T-post driver. Screen verry fine. Pan down two one teaspoon. Blowpipe this. Hit one blow with hammer. Examine at 60 power. If you keep weights written down this will give you a ballpark assay.

One geologist guy on here explained the rock is actually a clay, and it makes getting the minerals out very hard as it gums up the process. Im a lil confused as I have what appears sign up top showing at least two holes. But the mineral is down below? Did the Spanish mark vaults and mines and tombs they same way?

There is a lot of this green rock, spread out over a good area. One guy could never process it all in a lifetime. Im hoping to do some nugget shooting here. Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks Hoofer. I don't have a blow pipe yet, but have considered this and making measurements in water to check displacement weights. I have the I don't wannas this week. I have not visited any of my sites. This is a hard rock mine up against a ancient lava flow. I have located a fault line a few miles to the north, and wonder if it extends down this way. Is there any example of a blowpipe you can share so I can see what I need to make this?

Here is three pictures giving a idea of what I have. The first photo is a real nice monument. It sets next to a large owl marker. There is as much sign on the side showing a hole as this picture shows. You may not see the turtle, which has been smoothed down to almost a polished surface. There is hearts, one large one in the picture, with holes. The usually mark caches as I have found in the past. I have not figured out how to orient the heart yet to search for the holes. There is a heart on both sides, I have not looked for a fourth heart in that direction. There is a bird, and also another face I forget what it is. The picture doesn't do a good job. You need to be standing at this in the daylight to see it. This monument sets on a hard black blood red stone. The color is solid through out. I suspect Iron, and hill top composed of Iron. As you drop in elevation you get the Copper colored rock I talked about. Here is the picture.
hole1.webp

Below this is the green rock that layers about at the same height for a good ways in sw to ne direction. That lie is also the same lie gold is found in the region. The gree layer is roughly 100-200 feet below the Iron colored rock above. Here is a picture of the valley floor. The green layer starts roughly 30' feet up from the valley floor. You will now see the South Facing Owl that is roughly 1/4 mile from the North Owl. owlS.webp

Here is another formation that happens in the area. You get a caliche cavern of sorts. Im not sure what is made up of, but it is a good sign also. natural.webp

After reading my first Kenworthy book, I am just realizing how much I got lucky with. I don't subscribe to him 100% yet, as I will check out what he has published. There is a lot I have found that is not in the book. But in my limited experience, a turtle always points to something. From what I am seeing, there is at least a few holes up here. For some reason they made swiss cheese out of outcroppings like this. Its why I need better equipment to look for disturbed dirt. I will say they are very good at covering holes.

Here is a spot I like. Now understand, there is a city up here in hollowed out areas. I not sure what I would be allowed to post, but I shoot 300-400 pictures a hour. spot.webpSo is that a bear or a druid?

here is a hollowed out area, you crawl up between some rocks and this is what you see. It has ports to shoot from and see the valley below for anyone coming. There is escape routes also. You could put a few hundred people up here easily in all the areas, even found what may be where they kept the animals at.phallas.webp
