Could you provide a diameter please?

It appears to be Isabel II of Spain, but the reverse has a draped coat of arms. As far as I know this was only used on gold coins with values of 2 escudos and beyond. Copper coins in fractions of the escudo (as centimo denominations) may also have the Spanish arms, but not draped. Here's a gold 4 escudos for comparison, and I think I can see the 'Es' for 'escudo' to the lower right of the shield on yours too.

Isabel.jpg

My guess is that this might be a contemporary forgery that was once gilded, or a more modern replica that has had some harsh burial conditions.

Hey Red-Coat.....

I know it hard to tell with the condition, but the E on the left side of the crown seems off when the two are compared, side by side, supporting your counterfeit theory.
