My first post in ages because I really haven’t been detecting much at all. Took a shot at a couple spots this week. I had hit the first spot a bunch in the past and all it gave me was the gun part but it’s a cool relic in my book. I’m interested in an age on it if we have some experts online this evening.
The second spot was a town square kind of place with monuments on it. I knew the park was not super old but there are old houses around it so I hoped it might surrender some goodies. After snagging about twenty coins from the 60’s and 70’s, I decided to wander over to one end with some bigger trees. The Barber came up first and I was pumped that the park had some age, at least in that section. The 1779 Spanish made my day about 15 minutes later! Any experts able to tell me a mint for this baby? Can’t wait to get back but winter is descending this week.

Yet another couple of great coins yielded by our awesome state- Congrats!

Congrats on the silvers and the hammer.

Great finds! Cool silver coins! I like the hammer! Thanks for sharing with us!

AMAZING finds! I love all of them! The gun lock is awesome and the silvers are amazing especially that Spanish, those are hard to find.

The gunlock is from a caplock firearm. If I had to guess it's the left lock from a double barrel shotgun (there would be two locks, one for the right barrel, one for the left), and is from the mid- 1800's. They are hard to find.

Awesome!!!!! Congrats!!!!!

Nice percussion lock plate and hammer. I would date it 1830 -1870.

Well that was worth waiting for. Nice! :icon_thumleft:

Fantastic info! There is a specialist on every kind of relic, and you’re the double barreled shotgun guy!

Thanks! It’s literally been a couple years since I’ve posted. My kids take so much of my time, especially with them being at home so much. I used to post all the time.

Outstanding finds!!!!!! I’d agree with VTdigger on the shotgun side plate. The half Reale is is great shape as well!!! What part of Massachusetts are you from? Always good to see Massachusetts diggers on here

You just never know where the old stuff is going to turn up. Congrats on the reale. That is a fantastic find, especially given the location where you found it.Great stuff!
