Y'all are awesome this is what a forum is about ;)))

LOL.
I don't care what anyone says...your alright Rusty.
Kidding kidding.
Whatever you call those they are some nice artifacts.

Lol! I was looking at this thread while on a short break. I learned from this thread!! No more posting while on a five minute break. It's all funny now, but I really shouldn't post if I haven't had time to know my tail from third base. The last thing I want to do is misinform or confuse some of the kids that lurk on this site. It's amazing how many people I have met that lurk. I tell them my screen name and "oooohh, I have read some of your post" you too Gator. I normally mention a few of my t-net buddies and you are a popular cat. I have talked to two people that no doubt know who you are. "The guy with the shell artifacts!! Is he an archeologist?" This is the honest to goodness truth! People read our stuff and respect our words. Many of us have probably had similar conversations with people we run into. I'm going to use a little more caution.

They did rock.
I've collected from several sites that were not plowed fields or scattered across stream beds or river banks.
You get to see the entire assemblage like that..and can see all the stages of the process.

IYO do you think a plow or disc could peel the cortex off of these stones I posted? Im trying to learn is why I am asking. They were found in a field and not the creek. The cobbles are not much bigger than these stones. Thanks

rock.. just by the photo and no other info I would guess those were parts of larger stones that were being prepared as cores and removed as bad spots and are just debris from spalling out a larger piece.
I couldn't image starting out with a piece that small and making anything aside from a flake blade or just removing a few flakes from an edge for a little expedient tool.
I'm not very familiar with making tools or points out of cobble..frankly I feel bad for folks who had to.
If those are Flint I'd say they were just hinged up bad spots in a blank that had to be removed.

Please.... I urge anyone who is at all interested in a deeper understanding of the stone artifacts you find take the time to watch all five parts of this.
Just a couple minutes into part one you will see a " hand axe"
I've had the pleasure of sitting down chatting with and watching Steve work.. Great knapper even better guy.
