While I do believe that ghost are possible I also feel curious as to why only "humans" are ghosts. Why are there no animal ghosts? Aren't just as alive as humans before they died. They have thoughts, emotions and know love just like us. Thousands of horses died in battle traumatically just like humans. You never here about a civil war horse haunting an old building, do you?

Some people say they see, or otherwise experience animal ghosts. Personally, I think when animals are seen/experienced, it's because they are in some way connected to a person. The ghost of a soldier is seen on his horse, because thats where he was in life...the cycle is being played over and over.

:coffee2: :tongue3:  INTERESTING question... MY guess is that "human" spirits (after "death"), can "project out" the "human image", using the "mind' which survives; Buddha said... "MIND, it is... which gives to things (ie. "ghosts"...), their ESSENCE." I am not sure animal brains are as developed, to "project"... hence, NO "pet"/animal "ghosts"; I MAY be wrong, about this, tho... ??? :coffee2: :tongue3:

There are actually many reports of animal ghosts....cats, dogs, and so forth. Our team is currently investigating a motel where A LOT of activity is taking place. Several weeks ago, a couple stayed there as usual (regular guests). They had a pet dog that always came with them. Well, the dog died before the trip. Grieving, the dogs owners took along a photo of the dog and placed it on the nightstand. After arriving and checking in, the couple went out to dinner.

When they returned, the owner of the motel told them that she was glad they were back, because their dog had been going crazy, constantly barking in their room and causing other guests to complain. They told her there must be a mistake, as they didn't bring a dog. They even let her in to see there was not a dog there.

I think that it's possible for an emotional bond to cause a spirit to linger. Maybe that's why a lot of religions teach about the folly of becoming attached to worldly possessions and emotions, that it's difficult to move on when being held back by them.

Someday we will know.

:coffee2: :tongue3:  It is STILL an interesting question; MY guess is that "we" (our minds...) "can project out" favorite pets, etc. "in the spirit", DUNNO. I was a former REBEL re-enactor, and was at GETTYSBURG, in 1974 or '75; it IS a VERY haunted place.... go there, walk around at NIGHT; beyond the "living history actors", you WILL "see"/"feel" GHOSTS! :o
In terms of the TRAUMA of war "causing" ghosts of horse & rider (Blue & Gray)... IF! You have ever had horses, or trained 'em, at some point horse & rider can "become" ONE. A slight "touch' can control a horse; SOME people are so good at
it, that all they have to do is THINK. like a "mind-link" (seen this at horse shows...). WOW! IF, a horse & rider are blown to bits during a battle (in front of cannons at GETTYSBURG, PA)... I can see where a human rider ghost COULD project out his "last moment" as ONE (horse & rider), "re-playing" THAT trauma, over & over, again. :) :icon_study: :coffee2: :tongue3:

As for animal ghosts... I was visiting friends in Iowa, we'd all gone to bed (me on the couch) when I felt the little daschund jump up and step across my legs. I glanced down to make sure I knew where he was so I wouldn't kick him accidentally. But there was nothing there.

The next morning, the friend told me that must have been their previous dog, "Hershey" who always liked to curl up on the couch, next to someone. She did say it was unusual for Hershey to do this with people she hadn't known in life, though. What got me about it is that I wasn't freaked out.

My other experience was after we had to take our dog for that "last trip" to the vet a year ago. She kinda hung around (so to speak) for a while. Haven't heard anything the last several weeks, though. Still miss her.s
