Well seeing it was 70 degrees and a nice breeze I figured Id go hunt some. I went to the main field and walked the rows. Did about 1/3 of it in only 4 hours. I got excited quite a bit but then got let down! Found a couple of scrapers. Found one piece that was killer in color and it was missing the tip but was reworked to a scraper/ tool. When I saw it the tip part was under the dirt and I thought I had found a killer point but of course it was a reworked piece. Oh is the red rock Jasper? Any way here they are.

With 100% honesty... I don't see any deliberate man made flaking on any of them..... maybey on the last photo a pressure flakeing track but I'm not sure. Just saying what I see. Nice material though.

Most are broken. I tried a different part of the field and the tractor has broke most in that area. Got to try different areas never know might find a keeper next time.

Rock... Is that field Associated with any body of water? If so I think you would do well to orient your hunting using that as ground 0.

Yeah it has a good creek. But where I was at on the other end is where I have found all of my arrowheads at. Its a upper level from the creek. I have found some nice tools by the creek but no points. I decided to walk the rows just to try it. It was a nice day just not a good artifact day. One scraper and the rest broken.

I looked very closely at your pieces. I do not belive any are broken artifacts. The piece that has the shape of a scraper doesn't show any man made flaking. I personally would spend more time in areas with less broken bits but make more sence..this is just my opinion but I bet you will find the real deal in that type of area. "That killer you have been hoping to find." I bet will be associated with that creek.

Rock,
Most everything that I have found has been near what I refer to as "old water" i.e., creeks, rivers, swamps, & natural springs. I really have little that was found away from the water sources. Plus, when the weather gets hot again you might want to get in the creek with a mask and snorkel and fan the bottom where there is gravel accumulating . Lots of good stuff could be there. - Good luck.

Yeah I have scoped the creek from a distance and up close but not in it yet. A lot of old trees all along it and leaves on the ground. Most of the artifacts have been around the creek and on the tree line leading to the water. Ill check it out in the summer. And most of the ones in the pic are debitage which is still artifacts from reduction GatorBoy. But thanks for the help

Don't forget Larson also. Don't worry there dude..."Rock".. I don't think I will try to help you any longer. If I wanted attitude I could get that from the wife. Everytime you post "Rocks" and someone tells you they are "Rocks" you have a fit.. ...Rock

And you always have to be correct and if somebody doesnt see it your way you get upset and argue. I am looking at these and see alterations granted not much and that is why I say debitage from reduction. If it wasnt there would be cortex showing. Like this one

Yes i know that is the example of cortex on a damaged rock

Every stone that doesn't show cortex is an artifact now. You don't think when the tractor Busts a stone into 30 pieces flakes don't come flying off. Whatever man.

No that is possible. Besides how can I disagree on you expertise of Georgia lithics when you live in FL? Why is it when there is any kind of flare up here you almost always are involved in it?

A lot of different types of lithics here very different from Fl. Very much more. But really all joking aside the reason I posted this thread is so people can see not everyday is a great one and not to give up when you just dont find nothing but crap. Believe me I will be rite back out there the next time trying to find that hidden artifact that will make my knees weak when I pick it up. But probably not in that part of the field.

Why don't you go ahead and tell me... my guess is that I say what I think needs to be said when most others just don't feel like getting involved.

I can do that............ Did you go hunting today?

That's all good man good luck.. about your lithics in GA... you have..Flint..quartz..rayholite .. Jasper which is really just Flint.. am I missing any in the flaked stone category ? I've handled all of that.
