Best coin find, and best ring of 2013...The peace dollar was about 4 inches deep and sounded like just another aluminum can, and read Silver Dollar on the VDI just like aluminum cans do, I decided to dig this one because I was searching a city park that I found out used to be the horse corral for a RR depot on an 1899 map of town, I generally don't dig silver dollar signals at modern sites, could hardly believe it when I pulled it out of the plug. It has very little wear but lots of scratches especially on the rays of the crown, Still looks good on my keeper shelf, though.

The silver ring is huge (at least for me), it weighs 17 grams and is sitting on a US quarter in the picture, it has the same diameter of a US quarter. It was dead at Half Dollar on the VDI...I wanted it to be a Half but a ring that big looks good on the shelf too...good luck in '14.

30 years for me and I cannot get a Walker, I have every type of modern US Silver coin...except for that (bleep-ity bleep) Walking Liberty Half! Congratulations on a beautiful find, love the patina and the lack of wear on the details! :notworthy:

Nice finds and nice pic.

Nicest things I've came up with for 2013
Love token bracelet...awesome...I bet you spent a lot of time trying to find the other pieces.

That ring is Nice. I wasn't aware that they had a special ring like that. Lots of CCC projects in my area, thanks for posting !

Thank you for the feedback! I was shocked finding this ring, it was surrounded by aluminum siding from my house and in dirt that was full of minerals. I was just lucky considering my best find was in my own backyard. I think the CCC was very active in my area so a worker or farmer could have lost it considering it was a farm field at one time. I never knew the CCC workers or leaders wore a special ring either. I would search your libary for old maps of CCC camps in your area. I hope you have a great year in 2014!

Some amazing recoveries you all have posted, giving me a fever as I type. Here are my favorites for the first 9 months of swinging. 3 ring 14k white gold bridal set, 49 small diamonds one large. Returned to owner. image-2371208841.webp 1715 wreck beach partial ship spike image-3326664126.webp Eye balled great white tooth. I have lived in this east coast beach town my whole life, first sharks tooth. Still feel like a 10 yr old kid at show and tell when I think about it.

Hubcap I would be the same way about finding that tooth.Everyone that posted their finds,I remember seeing some of them and being impressed myself, especially love seeing the big silver coins. As I'm a novice and haven't really found anything of monetary value I would have to say my best find of 2013 was the part of the old M.J. Tobias Railroad Timekeeper I dug a few weeks ago.I almost threw it away too because it wasn't until after I had washed and let it dry that the engraving showed up.

Hmm, well it has to be this 26mm Confederate general's frock coat (CSA in shield) button.

This is my best find of 2013 and my career, although my 1785 copper maravedi meant a lot when I found it a few years ago.
