So... Please tell me Why does a metal detector cost $2499 again?

Says the man who paid $52k for a Corvette in 2002..... and is worth $10k now...

My Sov GT is over 7 years old now and still working properly I bought it New for $999, I can easily get $600 just for it with the 10 inch stock coil. It also has a WOT and SEF 12x15 & 15x18 Butterfly coils .... How much do think it would be worth with all as a package deal...?

Both my excals are well over 12 years old and worth more than I paid for them when I bought them used.

They both have the reverse pinpoint mod as well as 15 inch coils and the New Detectorpro Amphibian headphones hard wired into the controls. I would have no problem getting every dime I have invested in them back if I wished to sell which I have no desire to do at this time.

I could sell my ETrac I bought used and get every dime I paid for it back....

As far as replacements for Sovereign GT the ETrac works very well on the salt water beaches and is still being sold....CTX is a great beach detector, Excaliburs are still being sold and rule the beaches.

Minelab has new PI detector out and there are inside rumors of another detector in the works from Minelab.....

The are also new detectors finding their way to US from Europe and being tested right now and will be available to the public here in near future. ....

The vet doesn't give me a reason to complain......
Your Sov GT is worth nothing to someone who is reasonable and who knows you have opened the case, to do non manufacturer approved modifications or repairs. I myself would pay nothing for it.

None of my detectors give me any reason to complain either. You may not want to buy my detectors If I chose to sell them but there are plenty of others who would who know quality. I had no problem selling my waterproofed Sov GT when I decided to sell and I got what I had in it when I sold it....

Check our classifieds and see how long they last before sold.....

You paid $52k for your corvette, I paid $4k and change for my new 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner With Hemi in 1970...

Not my car, I no longer have pictures of mine but it looked just like this one. Wish I still had it since they are worth over $100k restored.

I had a 1955 2 door Chevy Belair with 350 vette engine, 4 on the floor, Muncie tyranny, button and tuck, all new carpet, roof liner with bucket seats and back seat out if a 1973 Monte Carlo that was my show car for 15 years before I sold it.....Only had about 25 trophies from car shows which isn't that many, just didn't have the cash to take it to the next level....

el padron, what is the difference? you can pay $2100 for a ATX, and still have the same results with a Sand Shark.

There is "no way" someone spent 52k on a corvette and still holds this debate or that point of view. "No way!" :laughing7:

Things are worth what people will pay for them. What you get is irrelevant. What you think you're getting is all that matters.

If you were out to buy a brand new home and the market value for one in a particular area was $250,000 but there was one perfectly good house just like all the others selling for $25,000 what would you think? You'd think something was wrong with it. Sure plenty of people would still seriously check it out(I would).....but the average person wouldn't even consider the $25,000 dollar home.

Have you heard the term "UNDERWATER"? Frank...-

Hay, he bought it because it folds up into a sneaky little package and it has bells and whistles to play with. Frank...-6 06-2 YELLOWSTONE 056-1.jpgThe raven, he picks up what others have left behind.

I didn't finance it either, I drove to the dealer in Manhattan Beach and wrote a check.....I wouldn't do it today, but I sure am glad I did it then.

The sneaky little package is very nice, It makes a lot of sense, Also the platform itself was developed for the US government, and they were not such an easy sell. "Find mines that you thought were lost for all eternity and keep limbs that you never imagined you would ever keep" didn't work so well for Garret the first few times they pitched it. I did buy a used one about two month old from someone who had buyers remorse set upon by sticker shock, but I still paid pretty close to what they go for new..... Its true they hold their value to an extent. Until I try to sell one.

I don't buy them to resell. If you want to play you got to pay...

Some pay for the illusion of playing....

Thats why you get a fraudulent treasure coin with every $2500 purchase. (complete with certificate of authenticity)…...

Is it to somehow justify and ease the shock that you are feeling once you are actually holding the cheap piece of trash you just bought for $600.?

Really? You seriously think a cheap bounty hunter is as good as a Minelab?

Off course not,
Now try to follow me here….
I'm questioning why the Minelab comes complete with a fraudulant treasure coin from many of its dealer network members and the bounty hunter doesn't…..

I would say if some dealers are offering a fake coin, it's purely marketing. Minelab isn't offering the coin but the dealers are. Kind of comes back to the free market. Right? Competition... the few I have seen advertised were made of pure silver. So they're trying to excite customers and give a better value than other dealers. Remember a pure silver coin, even if a replica or "fake" coin does have a very real melt value...

Well if they cost $2 elswhere, how can they afford to make them out of silver? And what could possibly be exciting to a treasure hunter faced with counterfeit treasure coins,? It goes against the very grain of treasure hunting to begin with…...

The ones I have seem were worth more than $2 in melt value... Remember in the end people just like getting something thrown in on a deal for "free"...

So Minelab is coming out with a new induction model with a completely foldable stock, it looks pretty well-made. Obviously has been introduced to compete with the ATX 3030 from Garrett
If the folding stock initial design could carry over to a quality multiple frequency machine I would say some headway is being made...

Think you're wearing down and might let this go.
ATX is Garrett, 3030 is Minelab

Don't need to thank me, Good friends are there to tell you when you're wrong. Have a great day!
