Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Been going out dirt digging for the last 4 days for hours at a time and am finding just crap. found a whole 2.76 in clad, a hotwheels car from 1996 and 2 1/2 pillow cases of shredded beer, pop and metal cans, sparkplugs, 2 files, and 1 lock part. I used my Erotek pro, my F2 and Ace 250. the F2 found the least then the other 2 detectors. I used to do better last year in one day then I do in 4. Really getting fed up digging trash. Today I hit 2 parks and 3 private properties, 1 school and 2 old buildings.

It's amazing how much metal trash is out there.

It doesn't get any less way out in the fields or in the woods.

There should be some some really old places in Nebraska to hunt...

Here is the reality of metal detecting. You are going to dig crap. It's not like the detector shows. Sometimes you may go days, weeks or even months without finding something you are happy finding. You need to lower your expectations and enjoy the process of hunting, and good stuff will eventually come along.

imagesOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.jpg....Put the damn machine down before you break it...Take a week off and do other things and stop reading about what other people find....ttttttttttt.jpg

Hobby is not for you.

Patience and persistence will pay off in the long haul. Junk is just part of the game.

Getting ready to go out again tomorrow. I can feel Papa's pain. The only thing remotely good in the last eleven hours of hunting was a 55-D wheatie. But after reading your post, I'm re-invigorated! Thanks for the words of encouragement!

It happens some times. Check an older sight for better stuff. I hear you tho.
Don't give up it's out there!

Relax a little, it's not all about finding great stuff all the time. It's about getting out and enjoying the day, the fresh air and maybe a digging with a buddy. And you can always start a junk yard. :laughing7:

Keep taking all the junk out!!!! Then keep going back, trust me. A lot of junk, especially "old" junk means a lot of people, a lot of people means junk and good stuff. Junk always shows first, remove the junk then listen for those deeper better targets. I spent a whole month and two 55 gallon trash cans full of junk, to find silver, gold, relics just underneath. And I'm talking buried junk not surface crap. Good luck, stick with it.

If you're not digging trash the your doing something wrong...trash is part of the game

Hang in there.... Just be glad you're outside, walking around in the sunshine (maybe) and are able to walk and swing and get on your knees and dig. Don't dig so many targets. Let the machine talk to you when it 'feels right', dig it up. Find some old church yards where you're in solitude and enjoy the birds chirping and enjoy watching the mountainous piles of ice and snow finally melt. I can't WAIT to get out there again.

Three months here this year and the 5 gallon bucket is 3/4 full of tabs, bottle caps, Nails, can slaw Ect Ect!!! And no gold yet this year O well We are still Alive And Detecting. I Just wish one of us would Hit gold Soon So We can Take The Metal detecting Tree Down!!! LOL485.JPG

My hunting buddy had a dry spell, but today he dug up some old hammered coin that range up gold and a rare German coin. I walked right over top of both of them........just keep swinging.

We may need a reality section where we post junk, but I am not sure if everyone wants to see all the trash we dig up. I am not sure if I would have enough time to take pictures of all the crap that I dig.

I have a pouch that is about 5 inches in diameter and goes half-way down my leg and I fill that up twice on hard days, and that is just for the stuff that fits. Basically, it is a plastic shopping bag half full of crap, and I may have a small vial of coins. Here is a picture of what I carry:

Oh, and I get excited for anything brass or copper and I clean up the hotwheels cars and give them to kids just to see them sneer because some wheels are missing or the paint is peeling off. Ingrates!

I remember cherishing any cars that I found when I was a kid because we were too poor to afford them. I had a baseball glove that I found that I stitched back together with string and I softened up with shoe shine paste in order to teach myself to catch. We were that poor and I was a 70s-80s kid.

Oh, and I am a junk hoarder. My bathroom has about 5 big 2 gallon ice cream pails worth of face compacts, brass and lead that I have dug. I am too lazy to clean them up right away.

I go looking for junk and all I find are these dumb coins!!! ummm.....not really! I found a few nails and some cut up siding today!

I can usually tell when I have a piece of aluminum or bottle cap under my coil, but pieces of siding still will ring up like pennies or dimes under my CTX. Usually, when I hit a lot of pieces of siding, I can look up and see that the house was recently worked on.
