I really like this little thing I found today and I think someone here will know just what it is. ;D

My detector puts it in the high bottle cap range.

Thanks!

Hey Bramble, I'm thinking it's a saddle shield. What metal is the actual shield? Is it painted black on the front? Neat find, Breezie

Thanks Breezie ;D I'm not exactly sure what kind of metal it is. My limited knowledge of these kind of things guesses that it is brass and plated with another kind of metal - not painted- the plate almost looks like the color and feels like the tombac button I found at this site.

Is that possible? Were things ever plated with tombac?

Here is one almost the same :) A heart-shaped mount, probably from harness, with a single steel attachment point at the centre.

aha! Very good - thank you :icon_thumleft:

UKDFD are good at giving references when they exsist, notice none given & 'probably from harness'.
So yes it could probably be one or probably be a furniture
You are quite willing to use the UKFD when it suites your own needs :icon_scratch: as you are such a expert on everything, why not start your own website ::) following me around trying to discredit everything I say, is just making you look the fool that you are ::)

you seem unable to debate anything without lowering the tone. The UKDFD is a great site & I hold their IDing in high regard & yes I do use them to suit my own opinions when they use source material (that I not only own) but trust, bearing in mind many books have errors. You make me crack up when you think I'm following you, I have posted against hundreds of posts (have a look at my history), your the only one thinking I'm following them. Grow up & take a reality check.

Yes I have seen many of your replys ::) they usually consist of ..Tag, Bump, or :icon_thumleft: and it's obvious that you are following me, because you keep quoting my posts with negatives :-[
