Got out with olddude today for some permission seeking he scored the 1st permission, a 25 minute "timed" hunt, lady had stuff to do, got a 35 Washington and 35 wheat there, wash.jpg 2nd place, 1856 beautiful property.....IRON CITY!!, 2 wheats, crotal, and the cool button, 2 more spots were deader than dead, got a few more wheats and called it a day, man really had to "work" for the finds today thanks for looking and hh!!dirty.jpgclean.jpgbutton1.jpgbutton.jpg

this is an idea of the types of homes we get to hunt around here, 1800s occasionally, mainly early 1900s like you see here1.jpg3.jpg

I've been waiting for your post.
Good little group of finds Chris!!
Hope dave was able to pull a few keepers out..
Seems like permission are getting harder by the year!

Some Sweet finds from your hunt!! I'd take a day like that any day.

Looks like a great day to me. Congrats on pulling those keepers. I am still looking for my 1st crotal bell.

Great haul,love that crotal bell:occasion14:

Cool! That quarter has seen some time around!

thanks george, nothing spectacular, besides the weather, that quarter was at least 7 inches deep in soft dry dirt

thanks creade, technically I'm not sure if ththis is a crotal or just ordinary sleigh bell

It really does do a lot for a hunt, when you have old time scenery surrounding you like that, (at least it does for me). Nothing shabby about your finds either. But, about that "having to really work". No thanks. I've given up working. If it becomes work, instead of play, I'll give this up too. Outside of a difficult plug or root now and again, I much prefer my "walks". Four spots in one day seems a bit much too. I've also given up trying to run down the field with my detector in hand. Usually, I go to one place for the day then pick it apart! I'll have a backup or two to go to but, once I start, that's pretty much where I'll finish.

How many hours were involved in your "day"?

It looks like a rather productive day to me.

Holy crap, that's a good looking hunting spot! Maybe you can start a new "speed detecting" trend lol. I would have found it hard to leave after 25 minutes.

Nice saves man

thanks gary, this was a long day due to us looking and looking, we only actually hunted about 3 hrs total

Thanks JC, those finds came from 4 separate spots, I got the silver quarter first thing in the morning and it was slow slow slow after that!

Not sure how it ties into the railroads yet, but the button is " Wilkes-Barre and Wyoming Valley Traction Company ". I think it has something to do with the electric brakes on the engines. It is mentioned in a 1908 sales publication. Turns out that was a pretty neat little button!
I really wish we had been able to hunt first permission longer. Yesterday wore me out lol. I napped on the couch.

Thanks Dave! I hear you about being worn out, I slept in this morning and I'm already late for work lol. That first spot had the best potential of any of them we hunted, that's ok next time we'll just kill it up north or south lol!

Those are some nice finds Chris. Those bells must be area specific because you don't see them here. Glad you and OD got out for a hunt. Nothing like a day out with a friend.

Nice finds Chris. Good to see you and OD out hitting it up.

Great hunts you both had there. I do like when our detectorists also post pictures of the spots they have detected.Older homes like those are almost always productive,
