Been hunting the bahamas for relics and hit some fused conglomerate from an old house that burnt and fell into the sea....I've found some good stuff over the years here from time to time but I've always been looking for the rumored silverware here !! Well I've finally started to find some after a couple years of poking around. Today I got a heavy ladle handle in silver along with a large conglomerate that has a silver spoon bowl and a mystery piece of inscribed silver !! The pictured pieces are only a few of what I found but have definitely got silver locked inside 20200223_134635.jpg

You can see a large silverware handle in the first pic and the large silver conglomerate next to it.20200223_134722.jpg in this chunk you can see the decorative silver spoon bowl exposed in this clump. 20200223_134703.jpg
Heres the inscribed piece that came out of this silver clump20200223_134656.jpg

I cant make out what it once said but it does have a patent also at the top of the tag.

This was a deep hit that turned out to be a Revlon compac from the 50s.20200223_155228.jpg
In this video I had just dug it and had not reached the HEAVY LAYER yet !!
20200223_124022.jpg heres my co worker digging with me on her day off...she did good with the carrot pin pointer and actually dug a nice bottle while digging in the iron layer today !!20200223_124016.jpg20200223_124137.jpg
Here's some of the iron trash we cleared away to get to the heavy (silver)layer today !! Check out the video.....the nox is a beast at looking through the iron !! There's more there.....I wanted to dig more but to be honest I cut my finger on glass while digging and had to stop !! Happy hunting everyone and good luck.

Wahoo, yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, and marlin most of the time....but if it's slow well bottom fish for snappers and groupers. Happy hunting crusty !!

Nice! You got the best of both worlds going on there, ocean and dirt fishing! lol Fair winds and following seas!

Much obliged crusty shellback....happy hunting to you too !!

Pretty sure I see the "lion passant" mark in there !! Still don't see anything like it in an image search ??

I agree on the lion.
925-100 has a ton of marks, but you really have to search through the British (which I believe it to be) marks.
I would say your "Ro No" would date it in the late 1800's.
Maybe someone from England could chime in who has more info?
The website has LOTS, but I don't think all of the available marks.
Maybe you could inquire and send pics and your numbers to the site and see what they say?
Might be a new addition to their database.
You seem to have a life many of us envy! Great for you!

edit: I see at the bottom of the page they have a forum for help identifying marks.

Yup...that's a great site EQ8. I was thinking english too just because of the Shakespeare hamlet connection. That and the fact that the bahamas was an english possession for many years. Late 1800s as you and simon pointed out fits perfectly with many of my other finds here. Now the big question ??? What the hell is it and what was it used for? !! Hey...thanks you guys for the help !!

Oh there you go, finding a really cool piece of history and getting all these peeps researching for you. Hey, some of us have to work! LOL! Very neat, Bart, and very cool that all of you are helping him. I'm looking too, even though I know nothing! Someone is bound to get lucky. Oh, and don't tell MR WD I am researching instead of working! :laughing9:

Keep the finds and the fish coming, Bart! :notworthy:

Edit: Whatever it is, I think this is a Banner Find! Can I vote for that here, or does it need to be in "Todays Finds?"

I'd say we nailed it WD. Good job!

Thanks, EQ8. I just followed your lead. That is one fancy schmancy book mark. I think Bart guessed bookmark, also, in one of his posts, somewhere.

The cut in the piece looked more like it was deliberate rather than "torn by the elements".
Always fun and interesting to unravel history.

That's freakin cool wow that's crazy finding that bet it's really old. Good job

Yup...EQ8, WD....you guys are right I'm pretty sure. I also thought bookmark but WDs link is by far the closest match I've seen...BY FAR !! The one I dug is almost the same...but an image of hamlet instead. Thanks everyone....y'all figured it out !! I've been back today after a long fishing day and dug some more silver just before sunset !!20200225_202925.jpg

Theres a bust or something on the handle and I'm pretty sure this is sterling too. Got a little melted bowl of some sort....its brass and might have been plated. 20200225_202940.jpg

I brought home some more pieces of heavy blackened conglomerate that hits in the 30s on the EQX. Got to be some silver in these clumps....I just cant see it hidden in there. Thanks again t-net friends....Wooo hooo bahamian silver !!
