I think silver is right around $23 an ounce right now. I haven't checked in about 4 or 5 days but I'm sure it hasn't gone up or down too much from that.

Its one ounce of silver, its melt value is $23.72 (Spot price of silver) a dealer would give 70-85% of that... So you'll be lucky to get $21.00 for it.... Still an awesome find, better than what I've been digging !!

Nobody here is saying that you should go out and spend one of these coins as a dollar.... we all know that would be foolish and we all know they were minted as silver bullion coins... however, these coins are legal tender to spend as a dollar... and that makes them silver dollars in my opinion.
