If you're from Florida you might know what this material is.. You might even if your not but it's fairly common here.
I've never ever thought of it being used for anything but apparently someone here a long time ago tried to make some into a scraper.
It's almost impossible to get a good photo of this thing.. It was found right where it should be to make the connection that it must be a little scrapper.

Rock your the king of scrapers. great colors I like the purple one. I only find run of the mill white scrapers as a rule.

These are two of my very best thumb/end scrapers scrapers from my favorite nearby site.

Them are nice Quito ;)

Thanks painter.

I find more of those things than anything.

Seems like there is never a shortage of them around here. Thanks

I guess I will see if I can find some more. It sure is boring at my house with this weather. Well the site wont let me load but this today.

That's funny I just don't seem to find hardly any here ;)

I'd bet I find five or six scrapers to 1 point, that is likely damaged. I'll get some pics of them all put up eventually.

Found these 2 today along with a few other scrappers. Not sure if these are almost leaning more towards knives or just some heavy duty scrappers

VERY NICE! southtexas! Looks like a couple heavy duty scrapers to me.

@ Texas the one on the left (chert) looks to of been a hafted end scraper and the one on the right a hand held type. I really enjoy finding the end scrapers but mostly find the other type. Nice finds!

@ outlaw why do you think they made those tiny indents on their tools? What purpose do you feel they served? I find them on the tools here in my area as well.

I think they are little spoke shave type notches for maybe sharpening bone or shaping wood shafts...or,,,or. :dontknow:

That one may be a bit worn down but often two small notches were made to create a graver spur protruding from the middle
