Here's a thread where everyone can play. Not like those inconsiderate GW guys.

Either great condition or really good for the age. Post em up!


The gilt crown button is local militia and dates about CW period.

The plain button is French Marines and dates about 1730s-1750s. Usually these have edge loss and no shank. This one is unusually slick as well.

Here is a "Eastern Star" 14kt locket that has strange clip inside for sumpin.. after a bit of polishin it looks new. The other is 1821 "Great Coat" ..my best shape button

Could it have held business cards?

Not quite as nice as Dwayne's but I found this a week ago. This was a photo about a half hour out of the ground. I was still in shock searching through the coin book. I haven't taken an updated photo since I cleaned it a little.

awwwww, i dont have anything old . u ppl r lucky u found somthing old. My oldest find is a brass key ring or somthing of that nature, it is from the early 1900s and it isnt in good shape

This is my oldest silver coin. Found this Edward the 1st silver penny near Cromer England, in sight of the north Sea.. it is dated 1279- 1307.

If you saw the movie Braveheart it depicted a king by the name of "Longshanks". Longshanks was Edward the 1st!

I guess I have lots of nice conditioned stuff, but as you know it takes lots of broken stuff first :P

This one sticks out as a true survivor, as it is pewter which in our soil normally comes out pretty bad, specially in a ploughed field.

Leading US expert commented as follows:
'Very nice specimen indeed. It is the pattern used between 1775-84 based on finds in North America. It's possible it was used also as early as 1768 and a few years after 1784. No officer's repousse buttons of the 43rd have been found for this period.'

Leading US expert commented as follows:

I didn't even have to look to know what was coming! It's the same here, lots of bad ones to get a good one, and only a handful of times was I able to get great condition on a good (meaning scarce) button.

That button should hold you over for good buttons until the next, no matter how long it takes!

200 years in the ground, 13" down. It looked like hell when it came out, but look at it now.

Here's one of my earliest Coins, My only gold coin.
shovel ding on top, & some rippling due to thinness & Hi Karat metal.
Was digging for another target & this came out with it. EEK,
Still one handsome Dutch soldier after 200 years in salt mud.
A rinse under the tap was the only cleaning involved.
