i decided to hunt the ruins of an old sawmill that i found out about through research and it payed off big! i believe i found a conneticutt copper from 1788! the condition is not very good,in fact i couldnt hardly read any features at all untill an olive oil soak took some of the black crud off of it.the really interesting thing is it seems to be struck twice with the printing around the rim of the coin appearing again over the portrait in the center of the coin. this is both on the obverse and the reverse. i took it to a coin store to have it id`d but the guy told me to soak it and then bring it back fri for his father to see. was it common for colonial coins to be mistruck in this manner? could it be worth something? even if its not worth a ton i still think its great! believe me when i tell ya that research is key and location is everything!!
