Salt River gives up some nice rings

This is my first post on this forum. So forgive me if I screw something up. The Salt River is a popular place to go tubing during the warm summer months. Thousands of tubers hit the river on the weekends and they end up dumping coolers and loosing all sorts of goodies. About November, the Stewert dam is closed and the river dries up until Feburary when they release the water again. So, for about 3 months during the winter this is where I like to hunt. There are some wild stallions that come to the water to drink, so I have posted some of the pics of them also. The best finds are the rings. The fifth from the left is a mans ring that weighs 96 ct. and has 16 diamonds. That was a nice find that paid for both of the Lobo detectors. I didn't include all the pull tabs that we dug. Another nice thing about digging here is you don't have to fill in the holes. Around the end of February the water is turned on and the cycle is repeated.

Wow. Beautiful scenery in a site that is continuously replenished and doesn't require careful digging or hole filling. Doesn't get any better than that.

Congrats and welcome to Tnet.

The rings were found over about a 3 month period of time.

Tremendous finds and a heck of an arrangement! Are you the only one who hunts the area or does a mob of detector swingers show up when the water is low? Around here if you find a good spot, even if you don't tell anyone, it isn't long until the area is covered with detector swingers! Was there ever any gold or silver mining around there that you know of? Another possiblility. And I'd recommend filling your holes even though you might not have to because knowing human nature it won't be long before some wiseacre complains about your "spoiling the natural beauty of the area" or some such. ::) It never fails to happen. Love to see what else you find. Monty

Congrats on all the rings and the place is beautiful.

Once I was retreiving a target down in the outer banks in NC then l looked up to find a wild stallion about five feet away. They are amazing creatures and fun to watch in the wild. Another time I went to return to my truck and one was feeding right next to it so I had to wait 15 minutes for it to move on. I used the extra time to do some more detecting so I didn't really mind. Built in excuse for the wife when I was late for dinner.

Wow, what a nice spot you got there! Sure looks calm there...Congrats!

I'm sure it's all been said twice... but great photos, fantastic finds... awesome first post and mostly importantly, Welcome to Treasurenet!

Look forward to your next finds!

Brings back old memories...I went to college at University of Arizona in the early 1980s...we would go to the Salt River and tube...you'd see these amazing contraptions...whole stereo systems and things floating down the river (no not long extension cords, but generators)...Everyone was partying and people flying everywhere...if you drank too much and didn't get over to shore in time you could float into Mexico! (Can't recall if you could actually float there, or just miss the stop and end up nowhere and unable to get back easily).

Our Club usually heads out there in late Nov. or early Dec. It's a replenshing resource ;D

Welcome to the club and man that's a nice haul from an area I just hadn't thought of. I live near a river that is very similar from the summer tubing activities so I think I'm going to put that on my list of places to check out.

Tremendous! You gotta really feel good and BTW,Welcome aboard. You have reminded me of a place in sw Tx.The Frio River, think that's right, about 20mi north of Uvalde is chucked full of tubers all summer also and is only inches deep in the winter. Some of you texans ought to check it out sometime. We moved from there in '95,so guess it's still popular.
