Ruck crusher added to trailer

Crusher with new Cleve's ran 1.5 hours solid with no problems crushing up to 3" quarts and hard rock , lasted a lot longer then the chains . I'll still have to hard face then though . Once done and home checked the wear .

Hey Jair,
If you can get a chance to scout out some military DRMO's that have public auctions see if you can get some military grade clevises from tanks and other vehicles. It would be much better stronger steel!

Thanks I didn't even think of that . I have a military surplus magazine for trailer parts for my M416 . I'll have to look through it and see if there's any in it .
Thanks again for mentioning it .

Picked up a gold cube , well the wife did for me , and after washing the crushed rock and running it through the gold cube it works very well and quick . It takes longer to wash the crushed rock , so I'll be designing some sort of small 2.5 - 5 gallon washer to speed things up a bit .

The cube is the best thing and quickest I have found to use in my case with my crushed rock . I panned a bucket with out crushing and found I get a bought three times the gold value after crushing .

NICE IDEA, I am going to do that next time the chains wear out on my machine. What size chain? 5/16 or 3/8?

3/8 chain , 3" Cleve's in my 16" crusher . But they did wear . I'm hard facing them now . But they still ran 1.5 hours with no problem . ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1428889733.015800.webp

McMaster Carr has "cut resistant security chain". Already case hardened and appears to be about the same price as the other chain,
about $6 a foot for 3/8.

Anybody tried that?

No I haven't , but the Cleve's worked really well for me , and I'll try the ones I hard faced .

3/8 chain .
I just made more links .
I welded heavy metal to a half link on the ends of the chains .
Ran this weekend , I'll check them this coming weekend to see how they wore .

Very nice set up people. I think I may have to build myself one for prospecting because at the moment I rely on a reinforced metal tube and hammer!

jair,

For the hard facing, look for a austentic manganese rod. They are rated for severe impacts and are commonly used for building up impact hammers.

Thanks ,
I ended up making more chains for last week end and welded harden steel to the ends with a half link , haven't checked them yet but got us thought the trip .

jair, could you post some picks of these hammers you made to show how well they stood up? Thanks.

As soon as I get a chance . Had a lot going on this weekend and didn't get to play with the prospecting stuff .

They don't look to bad but only ran 2 buckets . I plan on making more and use a hard ground engaging cutting edge cut to size as needed .
An test that .

I'll keep playing around with stuff until I get the wear I think will work the best and cheapest .

Hey Jair,

Thought you might like a couple of photos that we took of your rig while following you in our Samurai during one of our prospecting adventures together.
