Days are unfortunately getting shorter. Showed up at a new spot today at 4 pm. This place looks like something out of a movie. Old trees etc. Anyways, second diggable signal of the day rang in at a steady 80 on the At Pro. I'm thinking its a copper penny all day, yet I notice it's at 6-8"? That coupled with the fact it's a new spot had me a little intrigued. I haven't been detecting very long, less than 2 years, but I've done pretty well. Been seriously dying to get my hands on some Colonial Silver. Never would have thought that it would have rang in the same as a copper penny, but stranger things have happened. Anyways, I dig the hole and out pops a 1721 Spanish 2 Reale! I was literally shaking, as lame as that may sound to some of you lol. What a beauty!! Unbelievable shape!! I'll let the pictures tell the rest. Thanks for looking, happy hunting, and don't ever be above digging that deep clad penny signal. Cheers.

Congrats on that old silver. :occasion14: You beat me to the 1700s club.

Very nice save there Chest :occasion14: on finding :treasurechest: I'd love to find a good old silver like that !!

Forgive my dumb question. But if it's silver why is it only ringing up as copper? And does it read higher since you have it out of the ground?

That's a good question? Not sure on the science of why it's ringing up as copper. It's only like .8 silver, I believe? Which is low compared to other silver coins. I think with the at pro, it's not just the metal it's made of, but also the size that comes into play as well?? Large coppers ring up in the silver quarter range, and sometimes even higher. My mass state copper rang in at an 85, which is exactly what a silver quarter rings up as...

I live in the Springfield area RelicHunter 97. How about yourself? I've actually been really lucky this year. This is the 6th time this year I've hit the 1700s. First silver that old though.

Simply amazing! That's worth alot of money for sure! :treasurechest::notworthy:

BEAUTIFUL looking Spanish silver! Can't believe what great shape its in!

Awesome coin to check off the bucket list. Pretty Sure I would be shaking, or sitting there with a dumb kook-aid smile in awe of what I just found.. Great job!

CD that's a killer Soanish buddy. My first 2 were 2 reales but not that old (1782). You're off to a great start my friend. I love seeing folks find something awesome that they didn't expect
