I got the opportunity to help a fellow who lost his tungsten ring while covering his chicken coop. In addition to the coop itself, there was a lot of buried chicken wire intended to keep the predators away. I knew that MDing, especially considering my skill level, would be difficult if not impossible. I decided to do an eyeball search before breaking out the machine, hoping that my experience of looking for NA artifacts would be helpful. On my second or third pass around the perimeter of the coop I spotted the missing ring. It was partially buried under the leaves. The photo was taken after I had picked it up. Quite honestly, I was too surprised to take an in situ photo. The first shows the coop and the second is the ring (obviously). Iโ€™m very pleased to have helped out.

Congratulations on your nice recovery,,Iโ€™m voting HM for making that fellows day

And a win for the original detectors (eyes)!

Congrats on the recovery.

Honarable indeed! You have a keen eye. Congrats on the recovery.

A good deed is worth of an honorable mention. My vote is in. Stay safe and keep swingin (and looking).

Thanks for making us with detectors look good!

Thank youโ€ฆ and I didnโ€™t even use my detector (which is probably a good thing).

Congrats on the eyeball recovery-certainly the past experience in looking for points helped.
It's pretty useless using the detector around the coop areas, my first choice would have been a pinpointer.
I tip my hat for a HM as well.:occasion14:

Definitely an Honorable Mention worthy act on your part Bear. :notworthy:
Congrats on being able to 'eyeball' the ring, your detector would've likely been useless here with all the buried wire.

Thank you. I never gave the pinpointer a thought. Thatโ€™s a great suggestion. My idea was to back off the sensitivity and hope that the ringโ€™s signal was strong enough to come through. If I wasnโ€™t so lazy, I could have experimented with the machine.

Thank you. I agree. Conditions were much worse than I thought after speaking with the owner. I donโ€™t think that the MD would have been of any use.
