Went out to the old house I've been detecting and got the rest of the lock and knob hardware today. Everything was covered in rust and the lock was seized, I took it apart and cleaned every part of it the best I could. I just got done with the cleaning and finally have a complete set that looks nice. I can't find any information on the manufacturer which is making it very difficult to find a key for it.

You might consider taking the lock to some Antique Stores. Many of them carry a billion keys - I have found a bunch of replacement keys that way.

Ya did a good job restoring that lock, I have four of them in my house, covered in years of paint...

I've tried and no one has one that fits it.

Very impressive restoration job. I wish I had that kind of talent!

Thanks, I was thinking about painting it black but not sure. I kind of like the way it looks now.

Thanks, it wasn't talent just a lot of patience. Go slow and take your time.

Really good job cleaning that up Stone. I can remember very similar housings and mechanisms on a house I lived in years ago, belonged to my grandmother. They were so covered with decades worth of paint and stuff that none of them worked, and no keys for them were anywhere to be found so we just left them as is.

Good luck finding a key or keys for them. Would make a nice little shadow-box type of display.

Thanks, never thought about putting it in a shadow-box. That would make for a neat display.

This is what the lock looked like before I cleaned it.

I have somewhere around 16 of those locks from when I remodeled my house. not a key to be had though.

Any idea who made them? I can't find any information on the manufacturer of the lock.

if you take it to a locksmith Im sure he can whip you up a key...

I was thinking about doing that but I would like to try and keep everything original. Nothing new...

Fantastic resto job. That came out great! I would leave it as-is instead of painting it black. It's awesome looking.
Thanks for sharing,

Great looking restoration ... The #24 on the Tumbler could be the KEY # , seen a few examples on e bay ... H.H.

Iv'e restored many of those older lock kits. and many times a key that will works in one lock will work in other locks as well.
If not, it's easy to take another old key and file it down to work in that lock.

Seeing yours makes me want to dig mine out. I did the same as you, but mine doesn't have a knob.

Great job! It looks really nice. You might want to put a little clear coat to stop surface rust if you keep it natural.
