Most valuable treasure ever found?

Just considering precious metals value, the SS Central America would be hard to beat with 13-15 tons of gold. There was 8 tons of gold on the RMS Niagra, 5.5 tons on the Edinburgh, and 5 tons on the Egypt along with 10 tons of silver.

But from a return on investment viewpoint, the Fishers have done quite well with the treasure "business."

I've been told there's a 20th century ship out there with over 200 metric tons of gold, platinum, & silver bullion on her. If true, I estimate it to be worth $6 to $8 Billion, and she may just be the richest shipwreck ever.

There were also cargo ships that carried 'strategic materials' in WW II, including platinum--that is now valued at $1,676 per ounce versus gold at just over $900 per ounce. Several of these ship were lost to German U-boats on THIS side of the pond-- in about 1943. Strategic materials were used in armaments and some, like platinum and pladdium, originated in South Africa and were shipped over here--only to be sometimes intercepted--and sunk.

What about my Zimmerman case of a boat load of Gold bars near La Paz in Mexico, the Manila Galleon in Costa Rican waters that was returning from the Oriental trade, or my German WW-2 sub or ---------

Or how about the ship loads of surplus materiel that was on Guam at the end of WW-2, in tropical sealed packing that was dumped into the Pacific at a certain shallow spot instead of the Marianna trench of some thousands of feet? hmmmm ?

Being in tropical sealed containers, a lot may still be in pristine condition, Jeeps, aircraft, etc etc.
