Hello all hope you are all out swinging. What an end to a season today I decided to go back to a known and hunted rev war site I've had luck there before flat buttons kg coins and early American coppers. Well today I found a cannon ball I was so excited I could not believe the last person to touch this was a soldier in the rev war. Well not five minutes later and a few musket balls later I found another one. Holy smokes was I excited. Two rev war cannonballs. I'm sure they are the real deal I'm hoping I can get an expert to chime in and ask any relevant questions
I would love to confirm what I believe.

Size. 4 inches
Weight 6.1lbs

Thanks for looking eastcoast hh gl image.jpgimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

A pair of cannon balls is always better than just one, nice saves. You must be on to a good site that keeps on giving:thumbsup:.

NICE! i would love finding one of those myself :D but, something tells me im not gonna find any canonballs any time soon here in Norway.
But supercool that you found some :D congrats :D

Charlie, I think I'd rather hold a pair of revolutionary war cannonballs more than a pair of anything else in the whole wide world!

When you texted me I was super stoked. I was getting tired of axe heads! Lol

Big congrats!

Beautiful saves Charlie! I'll be following this post to see what the experts say! [emoji106]

I would heat up the oven at home, and place on cookie platter with some aluminum foil, bake them for 30 mins at 425 degrees F to get any of the moisture content out of them. They are well preserved and since they have hit air now, it is important to preserve them, versus crumble them. I bake my iron artifacts to get out the moisture, then use a brass jewelers hammer to hammer away the shell. Thereafter, I spray with a clear enamel for preservation. I have had luck with electrolysis but seems to separate too much iron oxide at times. Maybe some others will chime in for preservation. CONGRATS, you are on a grand site! for sure.
