Is there a price value to this 2205 patalion button?
Is the test over?
Iron Britches is helping with some of my other finds. And I am truely grateful for his generousity with his time. I got some more I'll post, maybe we can see if you can ID them before him.
Really NOT interested.

Hint, you can right click to save for a tip as to what it is.

This is such a strange thread... :icon_scratch:

Lets get a date for this back mark! When there is no picture of the back of a button, folks always clamor for the view of the back mark, so here it is. What do the locals think the date of this one is. We get some guesses coming in and I will post the other side for all to admire. :read2:

See what you can tell me about this one, its a button too. Is this a button hook from an old shoe. Do your books have coverage on these?
Where are you digging this stuff?
Ex husbands/daddy's stash? :D

J/k

Wisconsin, I also dug one of those Wisconsin state seal buttons there and a plate.

Wow, things really stray off at times.........

1850-1865 for that back one. To say Civil War would be a guess as not sure if that company made buttons other then Military and I didn't look in a book to see.

Is this where we post unknowns and let the jury decide??

As for the "Rev war" button, wish it was but nope. Iron labeled it and knows a thing or two about them. Civil war is not my area really so don't really research it, and as for Rev war......only found one over the years and it speaks for itself as to what it is. 1812 is me likes :)

me three cents worth :tongue3:

The back mark was posted some years ago on a forum and their experts claim the 1880's for it.

Well this has been posted in the past and back then it was never identified. Someone did at one time say it was a French regimental button. But I recently recieved word that it was 100% for sure a French Regimental Button and they added a link to said buttons. I was able to match it to the correct style and there was a date that they were used. The date was between 1776 and 1781. Now the interesting part was the button was found with my old radio shack detector in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It has taken around 6 to 7 years to get a proper ID to this old find. The region was British in the past and before that French territory, I never expected it to be so old. The weird part of the whole thing is finding this type of button in Wisconsin!

It is a French button of the type adopted in 1844 and used until 1871.
