I have been studying for nearly 30 years preposterous claims that Moctezuma's treasure is buried in the mountain village where I live.
After nearly 30 years of listening to local 'legends' and studying the written records, and a lot of thought trying to put myself in the minds of the Aztecs, I honestly believe the treasure is really here.
And, estimates from Bernal Diaz would put it at perhaps 15 tons of gold and jewels.
Military logic, plus other history tells me exactly where it is. The owner will never permit anyone to look. And, if you did find it, with a value of over half a billion dollars, your life would be forfeit.
I have stated the only reason I would like to find it is pure curiosity, and if I found it, I would frantically cover it up again.
Here in Mexico if you find a treasure and take any of it and don't report it, you go to jail or prison, period.
