First dig of the season, was quite nice at about 50 F.

Got a copper pretty quick, about an hour later I got a small silver, too much mud on it to know exactly what it was. Later in a mud puddle I discovered it to be a New Brunswick 10 cent silver. Not right up on the prices I did know it was a scarce coin, and I did notice it had a doubled "2" in the date "1862 BTW"

So, when home I look it up, a lot better than I thought.

Probably my best first day. Even the crotal bell is a first with the makers initials...S. I. or I. S. anyone ?

Sweet find! That's a great coin!!

All the best,

Lanny

Big congrats! I wouldn't have even known it was a good find if it was in my pouch! Awesome!

Great to see it up there!

Golly, I did make it.
Didn't think I would. It could be a long time before I find something else as good.
Ground is frozen again now. (tear)

Thanks again everyone.

Congrats Rick!....great to see ya made the banner:)

I bet it won't be as long as you think. I also believe it will be something very different, probably a relic. There's way too much history in your area not to hit a great find every so often.

I hope you're right MR. Patch, I hope you're right.
Funny thing is you often are.

Congrats on the Banner Rick, I knew it would get up there.

Congratulations on those great finds and for making a deserved BANNER! :icon_thumright: Breezie

The obverse of these coins is very similar to our coins of Queen Isabel II of Spain .... very nice coin!

Congrats on the Banner Rick, I knew it would get up there.

Thanks Steve,

I wasn't so sure, I had heard no canadian silver had ever made it ? at least in the last 5-6 years.
Really wish now I had the video (as I often do get), but it BANG out of the ground, and covered in mud anyway, at least I have a witness.

BTW I'm always impressed by all the Spanish you've found. (I at last got one last fall)

Congratulations on those great finds and for making a deserved BANNER! :icon_thumright: Breezie

Thanks Breezie, I appreciate the word "deserved", but in the end it comes down to your peers, (and the MODS) So again I thank the voters, and who ever was responsible for putting it up there.

MY BEST FIND EVER, THANK YOU

What a great day you had, congrats on the silver. Heck I'd be happy with just the bell.

Hey if it were'nt for the silver coin I'd be very happy with the maker marked bell...which I am as it is a first too. (and I have found quite a few crotal bells)

:icon_thumright: The 2013 Charlton Standard Catalogue states:
g-4 $100
vg-4 $150
f-12 $300
vf-20 $600
ef-40 $1200

Nice Banner find.

Exceptional coin. :hello2: Love the patina. Another choice crotal for the bell family. Should be a fine year for you and congrats on the banner, too.

Still cold and snow here. :sad7:
