Here are some pictures of N. California timber back in the days of real men working with axes and misery whips.
In this one it looks like they are hauling a cedar log, perhaps to a mill, or perhaps to a river to float the log to the mill.

These guys are working on spring boards, which gets them above the swell of he stump.

This would be a N. California Redwood tree.

Another redwood

And yet another.

There are still trees this large, growing along the coast of N. California.

I would love to have about 10 acres of those trees on my property. That would be about 10 trees, right? I love them Redwoods!

God Bless America.

This type of thing actually breaks my heart - such amazing pieces of history- Torn from the ground like they were nothing. I mean, back then, the foresight wasnt so great - but these massive trees SHOULD be everywhere still, but we have reduced the numbers to only a sparce Few.... Sad - But neat pictures. Though, very sad.

Very Cool! Greenburgh borders me here in White Plains, NY!

This old tombstone just speaks to me. I really like visiting the cemetery that holds it.

You would have way more than 1o trees. My late Uncle lived on a lot in Eureka, CA, which was less than one acre. The area he lived in had been logged over 100 years ago, and he
had a massive tree next to his garage, with the roots screwing up the driveway pavement. There were two very large stumps in the back yard that had what's called a "fairy ring"
of trees growing from around the stumps, which were also very large, not as big around, perhaps 30 inches diameter on the stump, but really tall. Then part of his property dived
off into a deep ravine and there were 8 or 10 very large trees down there on his property, so that's 10 very large trees on a city lot. Old growth redwoods, I don't know, but I've hiked
Redwood groves, and I don't have the foggiest how many trees per acre, but my swag is at least 40. Perhaps someone knows for sure and they can chime in. But I do have some
pictures, these trees are alive and well today.
