Hi all. Hope you are all doing swell this communist holiday, you too Tom_Restorer.
Yesterday I got my brand new duck skiff wet for the first time. 12' wood skiff with a 3.5hp outboard, runs at 12mph cruises at about 10mph. I'm happy with it.
Anyways I went fishing a little. The town cop boat was out on the lake on the lake and he stopped by to check my registration. Just got it registered last Friday and they did not mail me my stickers yet. No worries, I had the registration papers in my pocket. I painted the registration number on the hull already. So this officer starts telling me that I don't have the letters for my registration number. I explained to him that the boat was just registered, and I get two weeks after I receive the stickers to get them on. Then he starts telling me that my choice of number color does not contrast enough with the hull color. It's dark brown numbers on a light cattail tan. Again I explained that I had a grace period of two weeks after I receive the stickers or one month after I registered it...
Then I said to him, "Officer, I think you are just trying to pay off your cop boat. if you don't like my choice of colors we can take a picture down to your shop and ask chief H$$$$$t if he likes them, and if he don't like them, then we can ask Judge B$$$$$$$r".
He wrote me a warning saying to get the numbers on which I was planning to do anyways.
It pays to know your judges.
