20190803_205710.jpg been trying to figure out how to display this giant glass float. It was used to suspend deep ocean equipment for gathering tidal and temp data in the deepest parts of the oceans back in the 50s. There would have been a string of these glass floats keeping the instruments from sinking. I cant figure out where to put it.

Wow, Bart, that's amazing! I like the whiskeys I see...

In picture 6, you need to work on your handwriting skills.:laughing7:;)

That's pretty dang cool! Hmm...Put it in a bowl?

Tomorrow, for the first time since 1862, a rebel flag will wave on the hills. Stay tuned.

As much as I envy your bottles , I'll refrain from telling you where to put your float....:laughing7:

Not the proper context , but suspending it in a section of net might keep it reasonably safe. Or woven cordage/hammock to wrap it.

Maybe put the 'giant glass float ball' underneath a glass table. Of course you will now probably have to buy a glass table that will accommodate it.

I might come back tonight, I might not. In case of not, Goodnight.

Ya....I've got a few nice ones like that......its not as easy as it looks and it takes awhile to finish one the traditional way....but I guess I should bite the bullet and start the process for this one and get it up with the rest. RR most of my good bottles get gone fast if there valuable FullSizeR_1.jpg then your always wishing you had it back. It hurts to think about the good ones until I remember what I got for them !!

Bart,

Your circular glass float couldn't you rest it on a craddle similar to what they use to support canoes, etc....smaller version obviously....lol.

I can't afford "good" bottles, lol! Just some random goodies I pick up at flea markets.

I forgot to mention - I went to town today after metal detecting in the yard all morning. I was covered in dirt, lol!

Now goodnight.

Bill your right.....I need to make a nice stand from our mahogany.

20190731_180059.jpg got back in the shop today....nice big chunk of sabicu.

This one was cracked through and through but my partner wanted whole so we epoxy filled it and shes taking finish for an idea of his.

Those are so neat Bart. I have one somewhere downstairs and it was a little bigger than a bowling bowl. I claimed it when my mom passed because it was one of her favorites and so it reminds me of her. Her parents lived in Oregon and she would go out to see them once a year and they would walk the beach. They had a huge collection of them and colors. Sizes range from a softball up to about a volleyball size. They were told they float across the ocean and were once part of Japanese fishing nets. ( :dontknow: ).
