Hey Tom?? Would paraffin wax work for sealing my canon ball ?? We have a large crockpot that we melt wax in to seal our logs with. I could submerge the canon ball in it till it stops bubbling. Just want to make sure that paraffin will work.

Paraffin is very clean and it works! Many restorers using it for shipwreck finds. But you have to do it again from time to time because paraffin is very soft and diffuses after some years.
You can see this effect as example on that Renaissance wax. If you coffer pieces with it and you polish it, this unnatural shining disappears after a few days or weeks.

It is needed to check the pieces regularly!

When your pieces be placed on a display under glass, this process goes much slower and the paraffin stays longer on the pieces.

But the big advantage of paraffin is, when you check your pieces regularly and something is going on with them (again corrosion or salts destroying them) you simply can cook off the paraffin in water to put the iron again in electrolysis or do any other treatment.

PS: NEVER EVER cook bronzes to remove any wax! This kills the patina! Here you have to use chemical baths to remove the wax. But to be honest, in 30 years I never had to do that. If bronzes are properly restored and desalinated, you never have to touch them again and remove the wax!

I always speak out what I am thinking! People has to deal with it and I don´t care what they thinking.

You probably don't want to remove the patina from your Zippo , but clean brass smells like , brass.

Trees here too I don't trust. One near the shed where generator is stashed.

We could write Uncle Lachine Bill notes , toss them into it and he would get them before express mail could deliver them.

Coffee...
Switched brands due to acidity. Two- three pots a day shows the effect.

This mornings blend is the last of the 8 o-clock "regular" beans ground and blended with some Colombian. ( No not that kind of Colombian! With Colombian coffee.)
Ears are ringing good , so it's working.

I’m hoping this spring. I haven’t had much snow this winter but super cold weather. The ground is like concrete everywhere so even the islands would be to hard to dig. I’ve been keeping busy with work but sucked it up and did some shoreline hunts near home. I haven’t found anything great but it sure was nice to do a bit of swinging again. I have big plans for spring. Even multiple “treasure islands” I hope! [emoji16][emoji106]

When I asked that he return it to me full of fuel... I'd hoped he didn't use the left open in the rain can!

Lately I've been picking up vintage bottles out of a vast supply washed up on the islands. I'm trying to cherry pick the ones from the 20s-50s with an eye to the future of bottle collecting. So I'm off to the races for stuff that might be valuable to my kid in the next 20+ years. That means the highly embossed stuff. Heres Brooks lemos in a straw color.

People are barely ever interested in the stones in their items. I always offer to remove stones and give them back.
99% of the time, people don't want them.
