What do I do now Tom my canonball is clean after a month or more of caring for. Primer? Paint? Oil? Clear coat ? What do you think ?

First of all you have to throw it against a wall to remove the last remains of rust and dirt and to check if the iron (and the wall of your house!) is stable enough for the next steps

LOL You can kick my butt next time

What have you done yet and did you make a desalination after the cleaning?
Electrolysis does that job but than you have to put it anyway in distilled water several times to wash out the remains from the electrolysis. Check the p.h. level!
I prefer for Iron hot wax. This brings out the last bits of water and oxygen and leaves a complete closed wax layer.
The last one I restored from a shipwreck was so corroded to the core that for more than 3 hours bubbles came out when it was in hot wax! So there is many space for remaining water and oxygen do do "their job" and kill that thing

When you hot wax that thing in micro crystalline and acid free wax, make sure no bubbles are to see in the wax bath. Than the piece is finish. When you take it out of the bath, use only paper towels to clean of the surface. There is no need for a thick wax layer.
