Pouring rain and windy here in the bahamas. No fishing today. I'll try and get to some east facing beaches to hunt ambergris today. I've pounded this beach with the metal detector. Not much on this sanded in beach. The whole beach is changing before my eyes. Strong north wind for a week has got the sand moving in.

I would say an brass fish knife. The red color just comes from chemical cleaning. You could polish that copper traces down but than you also loose much of the remaining decoration and may the intact brass shows corrosion. Better to let it in this condition as to destroy it.

It is dark with age. Not sure what I should see if I scratched it. There are brighter spots on it. Here is some more detail.

The plating has worn away. Brass piece with a copper wash before a silver plating. That's just my guess.
