We are down here in Orlando on vacation and every morning we take an hour ride to the shore to test out my new Sand Shark. Lookin for some advice as to the best place to detect. We went to Daytona and parked on the beach and did some detecting there but only found about a dollar in coins, tent pegs and bottle caps. We went to Cocoa Beach and found a bunch of sinkers and a few coins and bottle caps as well. Ran into a fellow detector and he stated that the good detecting is from Melbourne Beach and below. We are going to be here another week and would really appreciate any help I can get from folks that have been successful in this area. One thing I can say is that this Sand Shark finds everything! Very simple to operate and just getting used to it as this is the first time I used a pulse machine.

You gotta hit the beaches with the highest concentration of people and traffic. So if your in cocoa go to the most popular beach. Do a little people watching first see where the most crowded spot on the beach is. In the afternoon when the crowd thins go hit that spot. Hit the big hotel beaches too. Wherever there are a lot of people on the beach is a good spot. You might have to hit these high traffic areas in the early morning before the crowd or in the afternoon after the crowd. If you have a wife and kid they will appreciate the middle of the day time with dad. Dont frget around gazebos and board walks.

G.I ,I was in Coco Beach awhile back,I hunted after 6PM and did pretty well.

We experience the same thing. Don't think your going to get some gold everyday until you return home. At least, that is how it is with me. I went for 15 hours straight and did not have much to show for my efforts. Other than a sore body, and didn't even find enough clad to cover my parking. But it was still fun and disappointing. hahaha

Went for a few hours onetime and found a gold and silver ring. I was with my wife this time. She keeps telling me she is the good luck charm. :) I don't take her often, because she don't want to stay long and wants to stop and eat at a nice restaurant. You know a not so serious detecting day. But sometimes they are the best.

However, I've been in a slump, haven't found any gold in over a year. So I have planned a weekend with her at the beach. We will have a good time regardless if the detecting is a wow moment.
