Pumping Thing?

I'm not sure if this is part of a musical instrument or a butter churn , maybe medical pump ??
The cork area looks like it would twist-lock on some sort of container . It's non magnetic , with what looks like silver- plate. The curved tube by the plunger part is just like the ones on my old trumpet . Any ideas ??

It looks like if it was put over a container or jar and was pumped, it would recycle whatever was in there back up and around through the tube and put it back into the container.

Mojjax, It Looks Like An Asperator Or Suction Pump For Medical Use, Out In The Field Where There Was No Electric Power To Run The Pump. Country Doctors And Ambulances Used Them. trk5capt...
