Can't help you with the silver bits. But the line they were on appears to be braided cod line. It does not have a "natural" braded fiber look of sinew, milkweed, etc.

Whatever that crimped thing was it was not metal. It dissolved almost instantly when I tried to clean it. Obviously, I had no idea what it could be or else I never would have tried to clean it to begin with. The good news is my hunting buddy is coming back into town in a few weeks. We'll go out and give the area a very thorough search.

Don't know if this helps at all, but I found this in the same area on a previous hunt. It tested positive for silver. There are vague markings on it.

Ps. For all the doubters out there: It is NOT a fire nugget. I used to teach organic chemistry. I know how to identify silver...so please don't call it that.

Okay, I went through my work station with a fine tooth comb and I found the rest of the "thread/sinew/whatever" at the bottom of my neutralizing solution. What a stroke of luck! It didn't totally dissolve. Also got my wife to take hi-res pictures. Boy was she hot when she found out I used her camera last night! We should be able to tell from these:

Ok ...
Test #1...

Get lighter...
Light that scraggly fiber that is on the end...

Tell me the results... smell it... does it smell like plastic burning ? IF so Nylon...
If smells like fire burning in woods... next step.

Does it burn fast or slow...
Be prepared to blow it out immediately upon lighting.

This will tell if Nylon or not.

P.S. Nylon will "ball up"... and head towards the main string...

An earth fiber will glow and ash out.

You know... this may be "off the wall"... but I am going to say it anyway...

These could be small Spanish coins... half Real cobs ... particualarly West INdies versions....
that a native made from beach found or other found coins...

OR by some Florida old timer /someone who did not care in the day... and was a common find at one time... made it.

Like I said this is an interesting piece.

Here are what the West Indies coins looked like... 1/2's anyway...

I think you got it. They are half cobs folded over by someone making an artistic bracelet. That fits the area where I was looking perfectly. I looked at the "nuggets" again and I can clearly see Spanish markings similar to others I have seen and found in the past.

Okay folks:

We went from vintage silver bracelet pieces to Native American silver chunk bracelet to half cobs. Wow, what an exciting ride. Thank you ARRC for all the help!! With ARRC's permission I'm going to sign off on this mystery and hit the solved button.

Is this possibly banner worthy? I've never found anything this exciting before so I'm just wondering how close I am?

If those are in fact real cobs...
I would vote banner just for the fact it is so "off the wall" and killer cool.

I mean how many here find (how many coins are there ?) At one shot...
Does not happen often.
I assure you.

OH I ALMOST FORGOT...

This piece... MADE WISE... WHEN ----

IT cannot be before 1937 ... Period... IF ... IF..... strung on nylon.

FOR... Nylon was invented in 1930's and became prevalent after DUPONT unscrupulously slandered and funded the war on marijuana/hemp to clear its way...
From millions to be made...
To billions.

I know that the OP said he tested them for silver(i think he said that) but it seems reasonable that these may have been part of a fishing associated find. Similar to the old split shot weights we crimp onto our line, one weight then two...whatever it took. Could this be a fishing line with crimp on weights. I don't see anything wrong with this except the silver part of it. JMO....vn

Originally I thought the same... but he said "silver"... I asked if he tested for silver... and replied yes it in fact was silver.
BUT...
Village... your thought is EXACTLY what my original thought was...
And you are correct... If this was lead... that would be dead ringer exact match.

Although... awful flat... and would appear to have been beaten on with a rock lol.

WHICH ... I think I at some point in my childhood actually did do on Mono once. heh
