Anyone familiar with this token?

About the size of a quarter.

I looked, but found nothing that helped. But it doesn't seem to match the logo of the bistro chain by this name, nor the bread maker, hotel chain, etc. The challenge is that "Tres Bon" (very good) is too commonly used. I'd found another example on another detecting site, but they appear to have given up, with no real insight offered.
I'd contemplated it being "money" from a board game too, but didn't go very far with that possibility.

Sounds like you've been down the same paths as I.
Never have I run into such a dead end! Of course, I'm not a token collector.

Thanks for trying!

You cant expect everything to be solved in a few hours. The wheat stalk reminds me of Grange Patrons of Husbandry but was also used by other groups but my guess is farming related. Another thing I noticed was the gold plating looks like the old mercury guilded type. What state was this found in?

Oh heckfire! I was just doing a little leg tuggage. I know how difficult somethings are to identify. This was found in MD.

Something about a "promise dollar" in a 1892 book on the economy, page 357.

Interesting read. I'm afraid I'm lost about the token though. :dontknow:

It's in such good condition I just figured it was modern. Who knows?

Thanks!

Tres Bon in French means Very Good so it reads Very Good Dollar. Probably some sort of France bakery dollar or something too do with France.

I did some research, and couldn't find anything about this particular token. My best guess would be Tres Bon is the name of the establishment (bakery, brewery, chocolate factory, bar, restaurant, salon, etc.), and it was given out in trade like most tokens. The 'wheat' in the center leads me to believe it could have been a bakery as Hut suggested or a brewery.

after doing some research , i noticed the one found from the other site , the digger was from MA and yours was found in MD , i did nto see where he found his but he may have found it in MD also and lives in MA . any way i googled bakeries named Tre's Bon in new england , seems there was a chain of them in and around Baltimore , so far i have no timeline of when they were opened , but could this be a good lead ?

I just don't see enough similarity in the logos I've been finding, all with different lettering, lacking the triangle, etc. Going in the direction of the thought mentioned on the other site, and repeated here, I looked into bakeries, with this being the closest, with some wheat, but no other similarities: tres bon "golden food" logo - Google Search
