Processing black sand deposits

What's the best way to process a black sand deposit? I would love to use a water table but the cost more than my budget.. I ordered a S1 sluice on advice from a friend but feel its going to be too slow to make it worth my time. I made my own sluice and am getting fine, small, flat gold flakes at about 20 per small scoop. It takes a long time and lots of work to accumulate enough flakes for any quantity. Any ideas to speed things up would be great thanks:-)

Make a Fluid bed concentrator and run the material fast. This will take a bulk of material down to cups or half a pan. Then run it thru your sluice or the S1

youtube quicksand concentrator or fluid bed gold

Doesnt anyone just use a pan anymore?

I do but I don't tell anybody.

Me too I cant afford all that fancy stuff and I am not very good at building stuff...... but I make up for it in my shoveling abilities...LOL

I made a decision about a year ago I wasn't going to buy anymore equipment unless I had money from my gold to pay for it with.

I've been using it with black sand from the beach with ultra fine gold in it, and it's been working really well for me, and I'm talking about straight heavy thick black sand!

That's exactly what it was originally designed for...Lake Superior black sands and also the fine gold in Colorado. A great piece of gear!

What about a blue bowl? Do you guys think it would work for fine gold?

I made a blue bowl and it works, slowly.. I was going to order the gold cube but the prospecting supplier talked me out of it after saying the s1 sluice was better at black sand.. As for the home made miller table I'm just not that handy. I like the fluid bed idea.. Would a bazooka sluice work?

A bazooka is a great sluice for production but not for finish work. Learn to pan, that's the best and fastest!

My best day ever all I had with me was Bazooka supermini sluice, shovel, pan & snuffer bottle. It is very easy to get carried away buying the newest gadgets.

I got my S1 sluice today.. Not impressed so far.. The workmanship and materials are less than top notch the vibrating feeder bogs down with any weight, no water flow control, no attachment to hook the pump to sluice and no instructions :-\ I'll let everyone know the results as I go.

Another vote for the cube. Here's a video of me running straight heavy black beach sand.

I know how to pan.. However I don't want to pan a thousand pounds of black sand thanks....

My bad, did not realize you had that much material. Get a cube, run it for 2-3 hours (maybe less!) and all that black sand will concentrate down to a pan full!!!!
