I think I found pottery, I see how it may have been baked to make the pot or whatever it may have been. I found next to promising area well known for Native American activity. Trail of tears was very close. Black fox trail too
Hi. I know nothing about that type of thing but why do you have cloth on that piece. Id say others would need to see, going by reading numerous replies to others here, something next to it to gauge the actual size and thickness of your finds. A measurement or two. Then the experts here can give you a better clue as to what you have found.
 

Sorry, I see a rock not native pottery. No sign of any temper, ancient Native Americans added temper, made up of crushed shell, sand, crushed fired-pottery, or even plant material to the clay to help strengthen the pottery during baking process.
