The reason it worked was because the hash was heated or in other words decarboxilated. You're not going to get high just by eating a lump of unheated hash.

It had not been cooked, it was pure blonde Lebanese hash, cut off a half pound brick I had bought, it still had the tree of Lebanon stamped on it. Looked like the picture below.

I have a dedicated cookpot for making my budder. Decarbing does stink up the kitchen, though.

Nice..although I've never been an edibles fan, my wife is always
trying to steal my trim so she can make butter. When cooking with
bud, yes, it needs to be decarb'd (yes, I know that's not a word), but
for just consuming THC, eating hash will most certainly do the job.
It'd taste like dog doo, but half an hour later you wouldn't care...10ldhipy.gif

Alright , warning , I'm headed off topic now.

Working an inventory sorting process in a storage are with an old former co-worker.
We'd always been gracious to each other. We both rode motorcycles for starters , so got along well.

But there was a bad smell goin on in that crowded / somewhat confined area.
A day or two later I noticed it was from the "gluepot" that was always left on heating.
( Animal based glue for sticking buffing pads together.)
I told the old man I found out where that stink I hadn't wanted to mention anything about was coming from. It's the danged gluepot.
He said , "I thought that was you , but didn't want to say nothin"....

Don't remember the exact price for the brick now, was about $250-$300, I was getting ounces of hash for $50-$75 ounce back them, average wage back then was about $6.50, I was working for a phone company and making $10.00+ hour then, also single roommate was another telcom employee so living expenses was cheap, more money for partying. Also driving a nice custom Chevy van then too.

So i guess no one has tried "hot knives".

That's not how it works.
First of all just eating hash or just a nugget won’t get you high at all if it has not been heated it to 200 degrees. This is a scientific fact! Both a raw nuggets and/hash have the compound THCA not THC like many believe. THCA isn’t psychoactive and can’t give any psychoactive effects until the “A” molecule has been removed.
If your hash wasn't decarboxilated before you ate it then what you experienced was psychosomatic or you had something else in addition to the hash.
Smoke it, don't waste it.

What was with it? 40 yrs ago, Bacardi rum, probably a few tokes. Really nothing out if the ordinary for a regular day.
But what happened wasn't normal, so what was consumed in excess was the 10grams.
There wasn't too much that was out there at the time that I didn't do.
So the psychosomatic wasn't the case.

So i guess no one has tried "hot knives".

Yes, we used butter knives, I preferred pipe I made. I took a small 8 oz orange juice bottle, glued sewing needle on inside of the metal cap, poke hole in cap two places 180 degrees apart. Put chunk of hash on needle ignite it then screw it back on bottle, draw on one hole pulls air in other hole keeps it lit and no smoke loss.

It was the red or the black (ate 10 grams of black one night)
I was one serious blonde after that.
The knives in the drawer were blued.
The coil ring stove burner had a slight bend
The thickness of the oil was the best, stuck a big old sewing needle in the one grammer
Shake it off it was yours, can't take out the $$$
Gee how 4 decades pass so quickly.

3rd line

Yes... butter knives were basically all you could use i think.

Wasn't sure what others used, I used butter knives.

Yeah i think the reason butter knives were used was because they had to be "flat".

Didn't know if some used steak or butcher knives.

Guess you really could used anything relatively long and flat and can get really damn hot... and two of. heh

I dont really remember it being that "effective"... and more a waste IMO.

Everything else... i just dont remember... so it must have worked to some degree.

:P

:)

"Hot Knives"...first time I've heard that term. Had to look it up,
and yes, there's even a wiki for it..:laughing7:

Sounds like an early version of what today is called "dabbing".

Here's a typical dab rig:

IMG_0177-2.jpg

Instead of a standard bowl, you use a quartz glass dabbing bowl
(often called a "banger"..dumb name, lol).

Using the torch, you heat the bottom/side of the bowl to the
point it is almost glowing, then using the dab tool (center) you
"dab" a small amount of BHO in the bowl. The bowl is so hot that
the oil vaporizes, and you inhale the vapors.

A gram of decent BHO at the dispensaries here runs $20-$60,
depending on strain and quality.

I heated the knives on the stove, but there was too much waste, too much "went up in smoke"...:tongue3:
