Howdy fellow THer's,
I was looking at some of the posts lately, and it is true... you just don't forget that first
gold ring that you popped out of the ground. It's a magical thing. What else would get a
person to dig a zillion pull tabs, for that one glint of gold against the black dirt!!
Well, here is my first. It was found in the mid 80's with a Whites 6000 D Series 2.
Found in the yard of a home demolition, before they tore the house down. I almost
didn't dig it, but it just sounded a little bit different... and am I glad I did. From the
day this little cutie saw light again, it's been on my pinky finger. Since then, I've found
lots of gold rings, some with diamonds, some bigger, but this one is my favorite!! :)
Well, let's see everyones first gold ring!

Found our first in a school yard . I told my wife that I was reading a pull tab but she dug it up and I haven't heard the last of it yet.

Well there are some really nice rings on here. This is my first gold ring taken in the water about 3-4 feet deep with my Minelab 1000.

Well there are some pretty spectacular beauties on this post and I can't compare mine to most of them but... my very first gold ring was a plain man's 14k wedding band. I remember when I found it, where I found it and remember bragging about it for days. I think my coworkers and family got entirely tired of hearing about it! I even left my name and address with one of the park attendants in case someone might claim it. No one ever did. There are no initials and it is really large so it is definitely a mans ring. It was found under the baby swing at one of the first parks I ever hunted.

Not much to brag about but it is gold. Says K. L. 1928 and 14k with an I .I have found several rings but only three gold .

This is my first and only gold ring so far.
It is a mourning ring.
I will never forget the day I found it, had been at an organised dig, was not finding anything, so me and Linda decided to head home and go on one of our fields.
We were not on there long when I dug this ring up.

Just like DANG, I sold my first a long time ago (32 yrs). It was a 10K diamond sweetheart ring. I found it in the summer of '75 with the old Heathkit.

But here is my last ring (80th). It is a 10K cameo ring in the Art Nouveau style, made 1890's/early 1900's. I found it on the beach, in an area that was coughing up a bunch of old coins. It was stuck on a finger shaped stone, which I figure is what kept it from being squashed.

The first gold ring is always a very memorable one.

Nothing Special but what a THRILL!

I've been detecting since 1998 on land (still learning) Found lots of rings including one of my favorites a disney ring with mickey, minnie, pluto & donald. No gold though.
Bought a CZ20 a couple of years ago so I could go water hunting. When I did my dealer told me it was only a matter of time b4 gold. The first time out, within 20 minutes I found this ring in the bottom of my scoop. Man I had a grin ear to ear! I was hooked and have found several nice gold, a gold and platinum, and a 10k ladies class ring that I was lucky enough to find the owner and return it to her. But I will never forget that first Gold ring. WOW!

I found something similar.

i started detecting about mid April of this year. Almost all of my detecting had been done in dry sand (over 50 times). dry sand yielded 2 rings (7/9 + 7/27). I also found about $80.00 in silver (i don’t count pennies).
Most of my sweet pickings have been from water detecting which I only really started on 9/25. The 5/7 ring was found on a beach that has flats + that was where i got the ring. The lake pickings were from only 1 lake - where my son lives.
Even though the water is SOOOO much harder to work - the rewards have been worth it. I will be doing as much water detecting as i can from now on. there are 2 aspects to successful water detecting - very hard work + keeping the pixies happy!
Donald
ps - i do not give out my method of keeping the pixies happy
