Here is one of my 1850s period 63Rd button. The site that this came off had many neat finds. I think the location was an early tavern site, it was near the river, I think there must have been a crossing at this place. Brian C.

I found this years ago just north of Baton Rouge. Me and Steve Dupuy, who introduced me to this site spent the day along a walking trail kinda behind a fast food joint. This was one of the best finds that day. Steve was a good mentor both at work and away from work.

I realize this is a decade or so late on response, but that is a csa marines button. Pretty darn rare…..and expensive.

Not sure where found, but they don’t turn up in a lot of geographical areas.

I found these silver plated buttons about a year ago on two different permissions both in West Yorkshire.
Just last week i found a third but having told the landowner what it was he wanted to keep it.
They are officer buttons from a local militia called the "Craven Legion" formed at the turn of the 19th century as a Napoleonic invasion seemed likely.
