I see several new names.. And some nice artifacts on here as of late.
A conversation about green stone led to a conversation about celts today here... I thought it would make a nice thread to see the variety of material and workmanship of the celts that have been found by members... please add your personal finds.
I say personal finds because that way the emotions of the find are attached to the object the member and to the post in my opinion.

Nice one thank you for posting

This is a really fine Hopewell Square Celt that I actually picked up at the Flea Market for $15. No doubt authentic and one of my best acquisitions this summer.

The complete one on the right is the first celt I ever found. It came from the same site as my biggest celt. The broken one in the pic came from the same site as my best one. The size of the bit are the same. The celts from the 2 sites are very different, and the sites are about three miles apart on the same river.

The broken bit sure looked promising at first sight.

Some of my best Hematite Celts.

Those hematite pieces are wild no material like that here... I have a piece of one your buddy SOHIO sent me a while back
That $15 one is real nice I guarantee you'd like it more if you found it.
With the outrageous number of artifacts you find yourself sometimes I can't believe you buy more.
Nice stuff as always thank you

Thanks. I usually only buy to help with my states collection or good, solid local pieces. The Celt was from my area and found by someone local.

I'm glad to see it ended up somewhere it will be taken care of and appreciated

Beautiful examples right there my man nice stuff

I know it's not actually a Celt, but this Chisel is one of my best Stone finds ever. It was a blue color when I first found it but after rubbing it down with just the oil from my face it turned a deep black. I'm pretty sure the material is Diorite.

Here is where the abundance of shell in my area and the necessity for large numbers of canoes takes over my collection a bit ...technically these are adze bits but I feel I would be leaving something out if I didn't add them to this thread at least for material sake
